According to a video posted by Twitter user InfiniteerAdventures, Avatar figures were in the concept phase for Disney Infinity.

As usual, the team at Avalanche managed to seamlessly marry the world of Avatar with the art style of Disney Infinity. It is important to note that unlike many of the recent cancelled figures that have surfaced, these figures were only in the concept phase. There is no guarantee that these figures would have ever made their way to market.
Another interesting thing to note, these figures would have marked the first time a non-Disney property made its way into Disney Infinity. Of course Avatar would make sense due to the upcoming Avatar Land at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. Perhaps these figures would have been released along with the opening of the new land at Disney’s park. It would have been the first time that Disney used a new Disney Infinity release to market the parks.

During this weekend’s Comic Con, Marvel released the second trailer for “Doctor Strange” and this time around we get a better look at Doctor Strange in costume, Benedict Cumberbatch’s American accent and some awesome mystical powers. Check it out!
Before he met the Sorcerer Supreme, Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange was an unlikable and egotistical neurosurgeon. Everything changes when a car accident limits Strange’s use of his hands, sending him on a maddening quest for a miracle cure. This origin story introduces the magical and mystical realms of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
At the MARVEL Studios panel at San Diego Comic Con, Disney has just announced that there will indeed be a Guardians of the Galaxy overlay at the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror at Disney California Adventure.
We first reported this rumor back in April, and we reported several days ago that SDCC seemed to be an opportune moment to announce the change so that work can get started in early 2017. This is a permanent replacement of the Tower of Terror and the first addition of an entire MARVEL area for the park.
UPDATE: Disney has released more concept art and the storyline.
Today at San Diego Comic-Con, Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, announced to a packed house of fans that the Guardians of the Galaxy are coming to Disney California Adventure park!
Beginning in summer 2017, the outrageous and irreverent gang will appear in Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! – a comically high-energy, rocking new adventure. Guests will be right in the mix with characters from the blockbuster “Guardians of the Galaxy” films.
Deep inside his fortress-like collection, the mysterious Taneleer Tivan (aka The Collector) is displaying his newest acquisitions, the Guardians of the Galaxy. They are trapped in customized display cases, suspended over a vast abyss. Unbeknownst to their unscrupulous captor, the intrepid Rocket has escaped and is enlisting the Collector’s VIP guests for help. Guests board a gantry lift, which launches them into a chaotic and hilarious adventure as they join Rocket in an attempt to break his fellow Guardians out of captivity.
The new attraction will anchor a broader universe of Super Heroes that will grow over time at Disney California Adventure park. This exciting new presence will transform the structure currently housing The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror™ (scheduled to close in early 2017) into an epic new adventure, enhancing the breathtaking free fall sensation with all-new visual and audio effects to create a variety of ride experiences. Guests will experience multiple random, unique ride profiles in which the rise and fall of the gantry lift will rock to the beat of music inspired by the film’s popular soundtrack.
Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! opens summer 2017 at Disney California Adventure park.
We’ve got a first look at the menu for the soon-to-be-open AbracadaBAR at Disney’s BoardWalk. The offerings include Curious Cocktails, Worldly Wines, and Baffling Beers.
There are some nods to Disney attractions and movies, including the “Pepper’s Ghost” and the “Magic Mirror.”
A variety of wines, available both by the bottle and by the glass.
While I’m impressed that there’s a Belgian sour available (albeit in a bottle only), what’s baffling to me is why they have Bud Light on the menu at all…
Starting August 2nd, 2016, guests will no longer find turkey legs at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The seasonally operating Toluca Legs Turkey Co. on Sunset Boulevard will be renamed Sunshine Day Cafe and offer a new menu (but will still rarely be open). Meanwhile, the removal of the turkey legs will free up some room at Fairfax Fare to add baked potatoes. Baked potato options will include a one-pound baked potato with tri-tip beef, brown gravy, and white cheddar, as well as the Loaded Fairfax Potato including sour cream, cheddar, and bacon.
Turkey legs were removed from Animal Kingdom as well, but Yak & Yeti’s counter service drink window now sells their own version of the treat. Epcot and Magic Kingdom do currently still offer turkey legs.
At the very last second of Marvel’s Comic Con panel, Academy Award winning actress Brie Larson (“Room”) was brought on stage and announced that she has been cast as Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers).
Brie Larson posted the following image on Twitter showing that she is part of Team Marvel:

Kurt Russell Confirmed To Play Starlord’s Father In “Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 2”
Kurt Russell will be playing Peter Quill’s (Starlord) father in “Guardians Of The Galaxy, Volume 2”. That part is not too surprising. The suprising part is that he will play Ego The Living Planet.
Ego The Living Planet
According to Marvel:
Ego the Living Planet originated like any other planet, coalescing over millions of years from cosmic gases and dust. But unlike any other known planets, Ego developed consciousness and intelligence.
It’s really hard to describe this guy and dont know how they are going to have Kurt Russell playing the character but have a feeling that Ego will take a human form to relate with Starlord. The picture above shows a photo of Kurt Russell’s costume for Ego.
“Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol 2” opens May 5, 2017.
A Little Planet Hulk Added To “Thor Ragnarok”
Slowly but surely we are getting glimpses of what Hulk’s role with be in “Thor Ragnarok” and it definitely has something to do with the classic “Planet Hulk” storyline. I doubt it will be a faithful adaption but maybe we learn that after the events of “Avengers: Age Of Ultron”, Hulk was taken to another plannet, where he became a warrior and a king. Or it could just be a nod to “Planet Hulk”, which is more likely. Still has me excited to see Thor and Hulk battling together or who knows maybe battling against each other.
“Thor Ragnarok” opens November 3, 2017.
To Celebrate Captain America’s 75th Anniversary, Marvel Unveils This Larger Than Life Captain America Statue
Fans at Comic Con were the first to see this beautiful 13 foot statue of Captain America, which was commissioned by Marvel to celebrate Cap’s 75th Anniversary. Cap never looked so good. Now that Comic Con is over, the statue will make a few more stops for display before settling in his permanent home of Sunset Park, Brooklyn on August 10th.
Concept Art For “Spider-Man: Homecoming” Shows The Web Slinger Going Up Against The Vulture
Believe it or not but there is less than year before we see Spider-Man back on the big screen with the first solo Spidey MCU movie, “Spider-Man: Homecoming”. Until then we got our first look at some concept art showing Spider-Man in action against his nemesis, The Vulture. We still are not sure who Michael Keaton will be playing in “Homecoming” but the odds are pretty high you are looking at him in the above promotional art.
“Spider-Man: Homecoming” opens July 7, 2017.
New Poster Released For “Doctor Strange”
Marvel released it’s second action packed trailer for “Doctor Strange” while at Comic Con but shortly after released this beautiful movie poster!
A few months ago, we reported that menu changes were coming to the Jungle Cruise-themed Skipper Canteen Restaurant at the Magic Kingdom in an attempt to make establishment more desirable to more guests. Rather than rip the menu to shreds, Disney instead made reservations available to the restaurant just as they do any others and revamped the kids menu before taking a shot at the main menu. I’m happy to report while the menu was re-tooled, overall it was not a victim (at least yet) of unadventurous tourists and their refusal to dine here. With the menu changes in effect, I decided to go try out some of the new items… (also check out my original review)
New to appetizers is the Noodle Salad.
Several dishes in the entrees were retooled.
There is now a fried chicken option.
Yes, they have a whole fried fish.
The Egyptian-style macaroni and beef dish has a whole new look.
Don’t worry, the amazing bread with the honey dipping sauce remains.
S.E.A. Shu Mai ($10) – Hands down my favorite appetizer at Walt Disney World. Seriously, I dream about these about once a week. I like to let them sit in the auce for a few seconds before eating them, and with the sauce soaked in they are pretty much the most perfect way to start a meal. SCORE: 7 out of 7
While not new, they do come in a wood box rather than the old metal pot.
Shiriki Noodle Salad ($11) – New to the menu, this salad is fairly unique, but a little small (then again noodles can be pretty filling and this is an appetizer). It wasn’t bad, I thought the noodles were quite tasty in fact. A solid addition if you like this sort of thing. SCORE: 4 out of 7.
Skip’s Beefy Baked Pasta ($21) – A slight “reinvention” of the former bowled version (now often referred to as the meat square), this was pretty forgettable. It’s a far smaller serving and it just isn’t as good as I remember on my first visit opening day. It wasn’t awful, but after having tried more of the menu, this isn’t even near my top choices anymore. SCORE: 5 out of 7.
OK Â folks, shield your eyes…
Whole Fried Fish ($30) – This is another whole fried fish and it is Lion Fish. I have never had Lion Fish before, and honestly is was pretty spectacular. Unlike other whole fried fish, a fish fork wasn’t really necessary as the bones in this fish aren’t so brittle. The seasoning on the fish was fantastic, and the sides (rice, grilled scallions) blend perfectly with this plate as well. For the price, this is a great sized fish dish and a meal I would certainly order again. It’s unique, it’s delicious, and it’s perfect for this restaurant. SCORE: 7 out of 7.
I am overjoyed that Disney re-evaluated plans to “dumb-down” the menu and took the opportunity to make some dishes more inviting, while still leaving some (and even adding some) adventurous additions. The Noodle Salad and Whole Fried Fish are really good additions, and all-in-all I still believe this is the best table service restaurant at the Magic Kingdom, and price wise it gives Tiffins a run for its money as the best restaurant currently at Walt Disney World. The few misses on the menu are not enough for me to not score Skipper Canteen as highly as I can.
The Kingdom Couture collection was recently released, but I haven’t seen anyone actually buy any yet
The refillable popcorn is now available at the parks, the cool part is you can just keep using the bucket for refills as they don’t check when it was purchased
If the Little Mermaid bubble wand wasn’t cutting it for you, they now have a Flounder version
Still no appearance by the Muppets in Liberty Square
Something is clearly up there…
The Emporium was reorganized once again, now more similar to the original layout for merchandise
No more sorting by characters in most areas
The Swiss Family Treehouse is closed for refurbishment
Tarps are up on the Haunted Mansion for some facade work (and maybe something more…)
The Disney Parks Presents book and CD set is now available at Memento Mori
Haunted Mansion Tsum Tsum pins now available as well
The 3rd statue in the stretching portrait series was just released recently
Tsum Tsum series 2 pins now available in Frontierland Trading Outpost
Nets were added under the bridge in front of Splash Mountain to keep out alligators
Pecos Bill’s is pumping out ice water to take care of guests on the hottest days of the year
Some facade work taking place at Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin, a lot of foliage was cleared out
Not really a fan, but Tomorrowland Terrace got some new seats recently
I wasn’t sure if posting this was such a good idea based on how often we might scare Disney out of announcing things, but current rumbling indicate that San Diego Comic Con might be the time and place for the announcement of the Guardians of the Galaxy attractions at Disney theme parks.
If the rumors are true (or if Disney decides to go through with it), the MARVEL Studios panel may be used to announce a Guardians of the Galaxy overlay of the Tower of Terror attraction at Disney California Adventure and a Guardians of the Galaxy ride to replace the Universe of Energy at Walt Disney World’s Epcot.
The reasoning for the announcement at SDCC is that work will commence on the new additions by the Fall, far before another D23 Expo arrives in Anaheim next summer. In fact, Disney would like the new Guardians-themed Tower of Terror to be open by then.
The cast of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 is slated to be at the panel, making it an opportune moment to promote the movie and possibly announce that they are coming to Disney Parks.
