RoE: D-Tour Series 2

A second, revamped D-Tour Series will be released at the Disney Parks in 2014. Series 2 will be blind boxed, as opposed to the open window first series. There will be 8 figures in the set, no word if there will be a chaser. This series will also include both Mickey and Minnie platforms. No previews were shown other than this graphic.

So let me get this straight… They run Urban into the ground with bland designs. Then ditch it for Urban Redux, a new take on Urban that didn’t seem popular. Only to revamp D-Tour to seemingly be like the original Urban? Give me some great designs like Urban 1-7 had and I’ll bite.

RoE: Duffy the Disney Bear Blind Box Series

Before the two open window Duffy Vinylmation were released in 2012, we were told there would be a blind box Duffy series. We seem to finally be seeing that come to fruition. Disney has announced a blind box Duffy the Disney Bear Series One. Thomas Scott was very vague and just left us with this one image and said Duffy is going to look very different in this series.

I very much welcome a Duffy series, but it has to more than color palate differences. I’d more be looking for a customs around the world or seasonal costumes. I guess we will wait and see.

RoE: Aladdin Junior Series

An 18 figure Aladdin Junior series designed by the Disney Store will be released in 2014.

They did a great job giving us variations on the characters. Also, artwork on juniors is amazing these days.

Aladdin, Jasmine, Prince Ali, Cave of Wonders, Sultan, Magic Carpet, Abu, Abu as Elephant, Rajah
Genie, Cobra, Henchman, Jafar, Iago, Jafar as Old Man, Jafar as Sultan, 2 Mystery Chasers

RoE: Pixar Series 2

Pixar Series 2 was designed by the Disney Store artists Gerald Mendez and Enrique Pita (as opposed to Series 1, a Disney Design Group set). The series has been reduced to 8 figures in a blind box set. It features Boo and Little Mikey, Dory, Dot, Alpha, Emile, Elastigirl and Mr. Pricklepants and Mystery Chaser. It will be released sometime in 2014.

I wish Ron Cohee and the DDG were given this assignment, but these look okay via the artwork we saw. I will have to see them in person to really tell. I do like the idea of Elastigirl. Pricklepant’s hair is like Disco Goofy. Emile and Atta are bland to me, but Alpha looks awesome. Cone of shame accessory???

RoE: The Jungle Book

The Jungle Book blind box series of 7 figures and 1 Mystery Chaser will be released sometime in 2014 by the Disney store. The set includes Bagheera, Baloo, Colonel Hathi’s child, King Louie, Mowgli, Shere Kahn and 4 Jr. Vultures in one blind box! This is a beautiful looking set. I love the dancing Baloo so as to be different from the DDG Animation version. A hypnotized Bagheera with Kaa in his ear is brilliant. Oh, and check out Louies arms. It’s a new style.

RoE: Park Starz 3

Park Starz 3 Series
Blind tin series of 12
Expected release date: 2014
Expected price: ??

Harold from Matterhorn. Just a test of the figure shape.

Who else might be in this set? We won’t know til next year (we HOPE it’s next year).

RoE: Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark

Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark
Blind box series of 8
Expected release date: ??
Expected price: $12.95

In a way, I’m glad they waited. The designs and production process have come a long way in the past five years. If Indy is any indication, our first Indiana Jones Vinylmation set is going to be incredible. A Raiders of the Lost Ark set is scheduled to release in 2014.

I hope this is just the beginning of three Indy sets. Or 4 even. No, no 4. Bad idea.
Anyways, this figure looks great. Lots of detail. Can’t wait for the rest! (Wouldn’t an ark in the head with the wings in the ears be awesome?)

RoE: Topiaries

Topiaries
Blind box “Reveal/Conceal” series of 5 each only sold in combo topper form
Sorcerer Mickey on Top with a blind box of Regular Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Daisy on bottom.
Expected release date: 2014 (I assume at Epcot Flower and Garden?)
Expected price: $24.95
Open edition

I LOVE the Donald. Also the use of the Minnie platform for the females is perfect. These look great in person but like most of you, I don’t love the purchasing configuration. In pins, Reveal/Conceal works much better. You don’t have to purchase the same revealed pin over and over. Disney has made it easier to complete sets by reducing them to 8, but this goes the other way. But if you are looking for just one or two of the characters, you should be able to trade for them easy enough. It’s not supposed to be easy, and that is the point.

Sorcerer Mickey. This is what I expected from one the other Imagineer figures. It looks good and I look forward to seeing the other 4!

Here is MC’s horrible artist rendering of what this packaging will look like. Sorcerer on top and one of 4 blind boxed in the bottom.
