“Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” To Be Removed Before “Coco” This Week

 width=

The animated short “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” will no longer be playing before “Coco” during it’s theatrical run come December 8th. This originally came form a reddit user who goes by the name of natedoggcata and is an employee at a movie theater.

The following notice was received by the movie theater from Disney:

“Please note that the run of Olaf’s Frozen Adventure playing before COCO will end after 12/7. Starting on Friday 12/8 no more Olaf shorts should be up on screen. With the extra 22 minutes of running time back, we would appreciate if you could get in an extra show if possible.

Thanks!”

It does make sense that by eliminating the 22 minute short it would leave theaters open to have more showings of the movie. But the reddit poster goes on to say that that there have been many complaints about the short from people seeing “Coco” due to the fact that it the short is too long for most movie goers and they are mostly there to see “Coco”. Most shorts played before Pixar movies usually run between 7 and 10 minutes, so it is a bit unusual to have a 22 minute short run before the main feature.

But according to Entertainment Weekly, they received word from a Disney representative, the notice that the theater received from Disney was meant to be more of a reminder since “Olaf’s Frozen Adventure” was always meant to be shown in theaters for a limited time. That could be true, but it doesn’t make sense to remove an animated short that focuses on celebrating Christmas and other holidays just as the Holiday Season begins.

Sounds like Frozen fever may be dying down a bit because there was a time when a Frozen short was used as incentive to see a Disney theatrical movie. Back in 2015, Frozen Fever debuted in front of the live action Cinderella.

Fox Reportedly Favoring Deal with Disney Over Other Suitors

Bloomberg is reporting that Rupert Murdoch and his sons James and Lachlan, who control 21st Century Fox Inc., are favoring Disney as buyer of most of Fox’s assets, because it’s thought to be a better strategic fit and presents fewer regulatory hurdles. News first broke in early November about the potential asset sale. Talks apparently broke down, but then ramped up again this past week.

Although Fox is also in talks with Comcast, insiders are saying the Murdochs are favoring Disney as the buyer of the 20th Century Fox film and TV studio and Fox’s stake in the U.K. pay-TV provider Sky Plc. Fox will retain ownership of Fox News, the Fox broadcast network or the Fox Sports 1 channel.

Fox’s current CEO, James Murdoch, could potentially join Disney in a C-suite role, which would make the issue of Iger’s successor take a new twist. Iger is set to retire in 19 months. Chatter within the company is currently that Bob Chapek, Chairman of Parks and Resorts, is being groomed for the CEO role.

Sky Plc adds an interesting twist to Disney’s plans to launch new streaming services. If Disney buys Fox’s 39 percent stake in Sky, it would trigger a mandatory offer for the rest under U.K. Takeover Panel rules.

Bob Iger Likely to Stay On at Disney Past 2019 If Fox Deal Goes Through

Disney is in the lead to acquire much of Fox’s media empire, though Comcast remains in contention, Reuters reported on Tuesday. If the deal should happen, it is expected that Bob Iger will stay on past his set 2019 retirement from Disney.

 width=

Iger, who is 66, has already postponed his retirement from Disney three times. In March, he said he was committed to leaving the company in July 2019. Disney has not named a successor to run the world’s largest entertainment company, which owns cable channels including ESPN, theme parks and a movie studio, which leads many believe he would stay on longer to ease the FOX transition.

Iger is well regarded on Wall Street for transforming Disney with the acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel Studios and “Star Wars” producer Lucasfilm. If a deal with FOX goes through, Disney could gain access to more film and TV characters to add to its collection including animated series “The Simpsons” and the “Avatar” movie franchise.

Christian Louboutin Unveils One-of-a-Kind Collaboration for Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Innovation Meets Imagination:

Christian Louboutin Unveils One-of-a-Kind Collaboration with The Walt Disney Studios and Lucasfilm for Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Following successful collaborations marking the release of Cinderella (2012) and Maleficent (2014), Christian Louboutin is pleased to once again collaborate with The Walt Disney Studios to commemorate the release of the latest, highly anticipated entry in the Star Wars saga—Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Invited to San Francisco earlier this year by Lucasfilm, the designer was welcomed at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM), the innovative studio leading VFX and animation for the Star Wars franchise. There, in meetings with Vice President and Executive Creative Director for the Star Wars franchise, Doug Chiang, the idea of the Nomad Shoemaker’s masterpiece was born; the result is an imaginative and innovative mix of the Christian Louboutin and Star Wars teams’ creativity and savoir faire.

“Disney’s call regarding Star Wars was completely unexpected and surprised me. But I like surprises and this one particularly intrigued me! At first sight, the Star Wars universe and mine seemed far away from one another but when I saw the pictures of the red planet Crait, I instantly understood where it connected and why they had thought of me. Strong ideas and images spontaneously came to my mind,” said Christian Louboutin.

Debuting at the film’s premiere in Los Angeles, the showpiece shoe takes inspiration from the franchise, as well as styles in Christian Louboutin’s collection and a boundary-pushing art piece from the archives, the Ballerina Ultima, which boasts a breathtaking 6” heel. To complement the showpiece shoe, Christian Louboutin has created four exclusive custom shoe styles epitomizing the spirit of four of the film’s heroines: Rey (Daisy Ridley), Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo (Laura Dern), Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) and Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran).

 width=

Christian Louboutin commemorative Rey shoe.

  • Rey (Daisy Ridley) is portrayed by an ankle-strap leather sandal inspired by the character’s costumes including the harnesses that strap her body, while translucent PVC reflects her Jedi powers and the Force she embodies. The style is finished with a blue strass heel evoking the color of her lightsaber.
 width=

Christian Louboutin commemorative Vice Admiral Holdo shoe.

  • Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo’s (Laura Dern’s) pumps are the natural extension of her costume, directly inspired by her draped burgundy cape and the strong, reserved and empowered character she portrays.
 width=

Christian Louboutin commemorative Captain Phasma shoe.

  • Captain Phasma’s (Gwendoline Christie’s) shoe is evoked by the curves of her armor, represented by silver specchio leather yokes, reflecting her strict and authoritative character.
 width=

Christian Louboutin commemorative Rose shoe.

  • Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran) is represented through a utilitarian sandal imagined by Christian Louboutin, depicting a technical, engineering-driven individual. The strong heel protects an inner stiletto, reflecting the shell safeguarding her resilient spirit.

Each style is embellished with a bespoke glimmering jewel inspired by the Tie Fighter.

“Christian Louboutin’s shoes are truly functional works of art and it was such a pleasure to collaborate with him on the Nomad Shoemaker. The designs I create for films are meant to be experienced cinematically, while Christian’s have an intimate tangible relationship with their wearers. With this collaboration he has masterfully infused Star Wars into his magnificent, one-of-a-kind creations,” said Doug Chiang.

The Nomad Shoemaker’s story will continue with the unveiling of this unique showpiece shoe, created by Christian Louboutin and ILM, guarded by a set of glossy red members of the Praetorian Guard, on the red carpet of the film’s world premiere in Los Angeles on December 9.  The custom display for the shoe will feature a hyper-realistic holographic installation. For the designer, the use of a hologram was the best way to express his vision: a combination of creativity, enchanted by magic, enriched by technology. To him, the hologram is the most iconic visual effect of the franchise. This is how the story of the Nomad Shoemaker will be brought to life, inside a unique red crystal showcase, blurring the lines between reality and 3D animation. In this custom-made cabinet will be featured the story of Christian’s avatar—transforming a shredded chiffon pump, symbolic of Couture tradition into a spectacular, futuristic Ballerina Ultima-inspired-spaceship, to convoy the designer around the galaxy.

The commemorative styles—each signed by the designer, as well as the actress who portrays each character the style was created for—will be auctioned on charitybuzz.com/StarWars from December 7 – December 20, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting Starlight Children’s Foundation on behalf of Star Wars: Force for Change. The showpiece shoe, unveiled at the premiere on December 9, will be added to the auction after its much-anticipated reveal. Star Wars: Force for Change, a charitable initiative from Lucasfilm and Disney, harnesses the strength of Star Wars to empower and improve the lives of children around the world. Starlight Children’s Foundation creates moments of joy and comfort for hospitalized kids and their families.

The Gang Is All Here In First Look at Incredibles From “The Incredibles 2”

width=Entertainment Weekly has given us our first look at Pixar’s first family of superheroes as they appear in “The Incredibles 2”. Looks like not much time has passed at all, in fact, it’s supposed to take place right after the end of the first movie where they first encounter the Underminer.

Below is a comparison of the last time we saw the Parr family in “The Incredibles” and the first image of them together for “The Incredibles 2”. This could be the family all suited up to take on the Underminer….but the stroller makes me wonder. Seems to be a bit of an improvement in the character designs from 2004, but nothing major. I’m sure that although Pixar will remain faithful to the original CGI animation, we can also expect to see them take advantage of today’s advancements in CGI animation.

Disney-Fox Deal Closer Than Ever As Both Sides Talk With Their Bankers

Variety is reporting that the Disney – Fox deal is heating up, and is now closer than it has ever been, as both sides are in number-crunching mode to come to an agreement on valuation in the deal.

width=Disney’s bankers include JP Morgan and Guggenheim Partners, both of which have worked with Disney previously. Goldman Sachs and Centerview Partners are working with 21st Century Fox.

A source has indicated that the deal could be finalized in the next couple of weeks.

Bernstein Research analyst Todd Juenger has calculated the value of the Fox assets at $57.4 billion, give or take a few million. Deals usually command a premium to the value of anywhere between 20-30%, so Disney could be looking at a price tag of $69-74 billion.

The assets in play are:

  • 20th Century Fox film and TV studio
  • All of the FX Networks
  • National Geographic Channels group
  • 22 regional sports networks
  • Fox’s collection of international channels, including Star India
  • Fox’s 39% stake in Sky

Fox would then be left with:

  • Fox Broadcasting Company
  • 28 Fox-owned-and-operated TV stations
  • The national Fox Sports network
  • The Fox News operations

It is also speculated that Fox’s current CEO, James Murdoch, would take a position with Disney, while Fox executive chairman Lachlan Murdoch would stay behind and manage the remaining Fox assets.

As reported previously, Disney CEO Bob Iger will likely stay on past his planned July 2019 retirement if the deal does happen.
