New Disney Pirates of the Caribbean Books Hit Shelves, Musts for Any Theme Park Fan

This month two new pirate books hit the shelves at Disney World. The first, Disney Pirates, delves behind-the-scenes across ninety years of Disney film, television, and park history.

 width=

The second is an illustrated (beautifully, might I add) version of Pirates of the Caribbean that includes a soundtrack.

 width=

Not only can these two books be found at the Disney theme parks (as seen above), you can now also pick up a copy off of Amazon for a fraction of the price. Below is a little bit more about the two books:

Disney Pirates: The Definitive Collector’s Anthology: Ninety years of pirates in Disney feature films, television shows, and parks

Disney Pirate History

From the Publisher

Pirates have captured people’s imaginations for centuries, and Walt Disney believed in pirates as a source of great popular entertainment. Walt’s very first all live-action feature film was based upon Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island, and even before that, he selected J. M. Barrie’s Peter Pan, in which pirates figure so prominently, as a key feature-length animated film for his studio. Years later, Pirates of the Caribbean opened in Disneyland just months after Walt had passed away, making it one of the last Disney theme park attractions in which he was personally involved. That attraction ultimately spawned similar versions at Disney parks around the world, one of the most successful series in motion picture history with the five Pirates of the Caribbean films, and a vast themed land at Shanghai Disneyland called Treasure Cove–celebrating the entirety of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise.

Disney Parks Presents: Pirates of the Caribbean

In this book, Mike Wall’ s original illustrations accompany the lyrics of the beloved song. Bring the magic of navigating through the fire lit waters of the pirate-infested Caribbean home.  The included CD featuring “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me)” allows you to relive the adventurous attraction time and time again or experience the magic for the very first time as they read.

If you don’t plan on being in the parks anytime soon you can pick up a copy off of Amazon. width=

 width=

If you go to the walk-up counter at Pongu Pongu, you can also find the Night Blossom, which is a frozen drink, a non-alcoholic mixture of limeade with apple and desert pear flavors topped with passion fruit boba balls. Marvel Heroes Omega Coming to PS4 and Xbox One, Beta Starting This Weekend

Earlier this month, Gazillion announced that Marvel Heroes Omega would be coming to PS4 this Spring. We now have confirmation that a closed beta will begin this Friday, April 21.

The Xbox One version will also have a beta in the near future, though a date has not been announced just yet.

To participate in the beta, players need to purchase one of the Founder’s Packs that are available on the PlayStation Store. At the game’s launch over 38 characters will be available to play as. Basically, if there’s a Marvel hero you can think of, you can play as them.

For those unfamiliar, Marvel Heroes Omega is an online action RPG. Developed by Gazilliion, the game was originally released in 2013 for PC under the name Marvel Heroes. April 21, 2017 marks the first time that console gamers will be able to get in on the action.

For a better look at the game, here’s the trailer:

Disney Looking At Will Smith To Play The Genie In The Live Action “Aladdin”

 width=

According to Deadline, Will Smith is in talks to play The Genie in Disney’s upcoming live action remake of “Aladdin”. Don’t shoot the messenger.

From Deadline:

Will Smith is in talks to take on the genie role made famous by the late Robin Williams in Disney’s live-action Aladdin from Guy Ritchie, we hear. The adaptation of the animated feature follows the studio’s strategy of bringing its classic animated titles to life and so far it has been a goldmine, most recently with Beauty and the Beast which has already grossed over $1B worldwide. Smith had previously been in talks with Tim Burton about Dumbo but that did not materialize and we’re told these talks are also early.

Like Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin will be a live-action musical and that would fit well with Smith who is not only an actor but was known to the world for his musical prowess as The Fresh Prince rapper before he hit the little or big screen. The production is gearing up for a long, six-month shoot, so that is one consideration. It is supposed to start in the U.K. in July and wrap early next year.

PHOTO: First Look at Banshee Connect Experience for Pandora – The World of AVATAR

Today, the Walt Disney World website was updated to include an image of what appears to be the Banshee Connect experience in Pandora – The World of AVATAR…

 width=

While not announced formally by Disney, here’s what we know about experience…

“Banshee Connect” service is where you will be matched with a tiny version of the beast; a robotic creature that you can take home with you for a price.

So it appears as though guests will enter this area where a number of small Banshee creatures will be perched on a wall. From there, a guest will somehow be linked with one in particular that they can then purchase and take home. This will apparently be located inside of the Windtraders shop in the land.

Pandora: The World of AVATAR will open on May 27th, 2017 at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

PHOTO REPORT: “The” Magic Kingdom 4/20/17 (Goodbye Wishes, Easter Parade, New Security, Attraction Posters, Etc.)

Our latest photo report brings us to the Magic Kingdom, but not before a quick stop at the Polynesian.

Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort

Ads for Copper creek are now being handed out since the location is on sale.

 width=

A bamboo barrier was erected at Tambu Lounge to separate it from the waiting area.

 width=

This was my first time going through security at a monorail station and I must say, it was wonderful. This is a HUGE improvement over the way things were done before and it was so nice to step off the monorail and into the park with just the scan of a MagicBand.

Welcome to The Magic Kingdom

 width=

The tagline on the grammatically correct busses was changed to “When You Wish Upon a Star” from “Charmed to See You”. I think this fits better for the Magic Kingdom vehicles. Many of the other phrases for other destinations changed as well.

 width=

Getting artsy with a monorail.

 width=

In what has been a point of much debate, the Railroad Station sign was changed and now simply says “Magic Kingdom” as opposed to “The Magic Kingdom”. The population sign was also removed, but in fairness, it hasn’t been updated in over a decade.

 width=

 width=

The local ducks do not seem to care either way.

 width=

The main reason for our latest visit was the annual Magic Kingdom Easter Parade on Saturday and Sunday, which you can watch below:

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 merchandise for sale in the Emporium.

 width=

Some of the taller trees around the Hub area have started to be removed for extra viewing space for Happily Ever After.

 width=

Yes, we ate at Pecos Bill’s again…

 width=

Mostly just to see this duck who refused to use his other leg. Even as people tried to walk past him, he wouldn’t budge.

Work to prepare for new launches in Happily Ever After is taking place up on the rooftops.

There’s also this new reversible tote.

A new-to-me Belle handbag.

These outfits for little girls with tutus seem to be a big deal now. More on those shortly.

 width=

I thought that this Cinderella Horse and Carriage playlet was pretty neat.

 width=

It even lights up!

Who doesn’t need a backpack with a crown?

Here are the tutus with the matching shirts.

Slap band s are still cool, right?

A new Alice t-shirt for ladies.

Interestingly enough, there are Star Wars tutus and an entire portion of what was the Princess section of the Emporium is now dedicated to Star Wars.

The new purchase with purchase backpack available resort-wide.

The Humphrey the Bear mug has finally made its way to Florida.

 width=

No visit to the Magic Kingdom is complete without a Mission to S’mores

 width=

That and taking all of the purple straws! I’m joking, please don’t do this.

 width=

I like Starbucks, but it’s nice not to wait in a long line and I really do enjoy this drink.

 width=

Fun fact: it’s the only place in the park that you can get a Cherry Sprite.

 width=

We noticed that there were some new speaker covers near the center of the Castle.

 width=

They look fine, just noticeably different from what was there before.

 width=

I’m not sure what, but the hand straps on the VR devices used in Carousel of Progress changed from black to teal. Maybe to make them more noticeable?

 width=

The Robo News still features Stitch’s Great Escape.

 width=

The attraction was open last week, but remains only seasonal.

 width=

Arribas Bros. had some new character statues I had not seen before, including Oswald.

 width=

I love this new Don “Ducky” Williams piece for sale in the Art of Disney, but there was something strange in the background…

 width=

It’s a sign from the Happiest Celebration on Earth, which ran from 2005 until 2006…

 width=

 width=

More curb flattening is happening on Main Street U.S.A. to better accommodate guests in wheelchairs and those with strollers.

 width=

It is nice for parade times, but it is weird to have less curbs in an area that supposed to be a real town.

 width=

As reported earlier, menu changes have hit the Liberty Tree Tavern.

 width=

The Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake is now the dessert option with the Patriot’s Platter, which is awesome.
