Soarin’ Around the World at Epcot provides a thrilling finale high above Spaceship Earth, but did you know the experience is different if you were to ride elsewhere? If you were to take flight from Disney California Adventure, the attraction concludes with a nighttime flight over Disneyland Park:

We of course also have video of the Walt Disney World version of the attraction, complete with the awesome Spaceship Earth finale:

VIDEO: Preview More Destinations for Soarin’ Around the World, Including the Matterhorn

In this video, Walt Disney Imagineering portfolio creative executive Tom Fitzgerald tells us more about the development of this new experience, including the attraction’s incredible international itinerary. You might even notice we’re visiting a couple of landmarks which provided inspiration for some beloved Disneyland Resort attractions.

Flights on Soarin’ Around the World depart beginning June 17 from both Disney California Adventure park at the Disneyland Resort, and Epcot at Walt Disney World Resort, one day after Soaring Over the Horizon debuts at the grand opening of Shanghai Disneyland on June 16. Don’t miss your last chance to experience the original Soarin’, now through June 15 at DCA and through June 16th at Epcot.

On Thursday, June 16, the Hollywood Land area at Disney California Adventure park will host special entertainment and photo opportunities in honor of the opening of the newest Disney destination. The festivities will feature colorful performances by local community groups, along with character appearances by Mulan and Mushu. Some favorite Asian-inspired food & beverage offerings, including pork bao, almond cookies and pot stickers, will also be available for purchase. The event takes place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In addition, Disney will be giving away a button commemorating the opening of Shanghai Disney Resort to each guest entering the Disneyland Resort theme parks, while supplies last.

Patrick Warburton Confirms He Will Not Return in Soarin’ Around the World?

Soarin’ Around the World will open at both Epcot and Disney California Adventure tomorrow morning, and while guests will still be able to soar in a familiar surrounding, Chief Flight Attendant Patrick may not be welcoming guests to Soarin’…

Patrick Warburton portrayed the character in the preshow of the attraction which operated for 15 years in California and 11 in Florida, becoming a beloved theme park icon by fans. The loss of the character is already being met with sadness from fans around the world, despite the tweet being quite cryptic.

On a bright note Warburton’s voice now graces the queue and pre-show of Star Tours: The Adventures Continue, so he will continue to be a part of the Disney Parks for a long time to come regardless of what happens tomorrow.

So, what awaits us tomorrow in Soarin’ Around the World? You will have to tune in to find out…

RUMOR: Disney California Adventure to Offer $450 FROZEN Show Premium Package

Premium packages are becoming a pretty common thing at the Disney Parks these days, but now it sounds as if a $450 premium package is coming to California Adventure to celebrate the arrival of Frozen- Live at the Hyperion on May 27th.

FrozenHyperion1280

According to sources, the package would include a 5-course meal at Carthay Circle Restaurant, reserved seating for Frozen – Live at the Hyperion, a meet and greet with the cast of the show, and some experience in what was described as an “interactive room” backstage at the show (where guests can touch screens to interact with characters and pose with various photo-ops). The rumored price point for all of this: $450 a person.

I’m hoping the price point is actually less or includes more than one person, otherwise this seems a bit pricey, even with 5-courses at Carthay Circle.

Stay tuned for more details as they become available.

RUMORS CONFIRMED?: Guardians of the Galaxy To Replace Tower Of Terror, Captain America Launch Coaster Coming

Over the last month, I have heard a lot of people talking about a possible Guardians of the Galaxy overlay for the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. Supposedly, Disney is looking to opt out of the licensing fees paid for the use of the Twilight Zone franchise in this ride at Disney Parks around the globe, as odd of an overlay as Guardians might sound like for it. Sounds pretty far fetched, right? Well, it isn’t. Actually, it’s all true according to sources.

twilight-zone-tower-of-terror-gallery00

Before you get too upset, from everything I have heard at this point, this only applies to Disney California Adventure. There are no plans anytime soon to overlay or replace the Tower of Terror at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, especially with Disney and Sony working together on a feature film based on the attraction that also ties into the Twilight Zone franchise. Why overlay the California attraction? For a brand new theme park land for DCA – MARVEL Studios.

Marvel_Studios_(2013)_Logo

MARVEL Studios would encompass the last true expansion pad for the park, situated between Hollywood Land and A Bug’s Land. The area would be a natural extension of Hollywood Land, being a “working movie studio”. On the lot, guests could find a series on indoor and outdoor meet and greet experiences, as well as plenty of shopping and dining. One completely new attraction would greet guests according to current rumblings: a launch coaster featuring Captain America, showcasing elaborate show scenes between coaster ride portions. The other attraction would be near one of the two entrances to the new land: a Guardians of the Galaxy-themed overlay of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-img.1

With the current budgetary mindset in Disney Parks management right now, this makes a lot of sense. If they want to get MARVEL quickly and in a less costly manner into the California parks, this seems like a good answer. The Tower of Terror in California has never been as beloved or admired as much as the original attraction in Florida, and as long as an attraction of the same style existed, I find it hard to believe that any guests visiting the Disneyland Resort would actually care.

What would a Guardians of the Galaxy overlay for Tower look like? Who knows. I’m assuming there may be some material in the second Guardians of the Galaxy film which may lend itself to this attraction style, but until then, I am absolutely at a loss for how this makes sense. However, I don’t doubt Disney could make it work and make the overlay not feel so forced.

As always, things are subject to change and it sound like all of this is still in the very early design phases right now and very much subject to change. They still have an entire Star Wars-themed land to complete at Disneyland before this sees the light of day, and a lot can change between now and then. However, it certainly sounds like Disney is “hooked on a feeling” when it comes to Guardians of the Galaxy, so I expect to see an attraction based on these films sooner, rather than later.

Disneyland Expanding Star Wars Launch Bay, Closing MARVEL Super Hero HQ

Just ahead of the opening of “Captain America: Civil War,” the First Avenger will return to the Disneyland Resort. Captain America will begin making appearances next month at Disney California Adventure park. Also swinging in to join Cap on his latest mission in Hollywood Land will be everyone’s favorite web slinger, your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man.

Captain-America-1280

With this move, Disney will shutter Super Hero HQ in Tomorrowland at Disneyland park on Saturday, April 2. The Iron Man Tech Presented by Stark Industries and encounter with the Mighty Avenger Thor will both be closing and not returning.

The closure is expected to have something to do with an expansion of Star Wars Launch Bay, likely to include more character meet and greet experiences with Star Wars characters.
