Cars 3 Tour Makes Pit Stop at Disney Springs This Weekend

The third installment of the popular “Cars” film franchise is set to arrive in theatres on June 16th in 3D, but fans can get an early glimpse of the story, which stars longtime favorite Lightning McQueen alongside new characters Cruz Ramirez and Jackson Storm, when the “Road to the Races” nationwide tour kicks off March 23-26, 2017 at Disney Springs Marketplace.

 width=

Expect fun activities for the whole family, plus an extended “sneak peek” of the film when the tour rolls into town. Photo opportunities with three life-size character cars will also be a part of the event.

Alamo Rent A Car will sponsor a giant color mural; Coppertone will encourage guests to take part in a racer pit crew tire-changing activity and a fun photo opportunity; Crest and Oral-B will pass out prizes from the Piston Cup prize wheel and will offer fans the chance to create a digital postcard with Lightning McQueen; at the Dole Refueling Station, you can sample high-octane smoothies; Mattel plans to present an interactive play area; and last, but not least, NASCAR will be on hand to share the history and science behind their iconic brand.

During your visit, keep an eye out for “Cars” merchandise and special menu items at select food and beverage locations, plus a DJ dance party with tracks that will make you want to rev up your engine.

The tour, located at Disney Springs in the former Marketplace Bus Loop near Disney’s Days of Christmas store, opens to the public on Thursday, March 23 at 12:00 p.m. and will run until 7:00 p.m. that evening. On Friday, March 24, and Saturday, March 25, join the fun from 11 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. And on the final day, Sunday, March 26, guests can enjoy the experience from 11:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.

Beginning March 31st, 2017, Amorette’s Patisserie at Disney Springs will have a brand new cake decorating class where you’ll learn how they seamlessly blend artistry and storytelling in cake design, starting with the elegant glaçage (that’s French for “mirror glaze”) and ending with the finishing touches such as chocolate sculpted ears, tail, belt and buttons –  which are all edible, of course.

St. Patrick’s Day Festivities Returning to Raglan Road Irish Pub at Disney Springs

Bring out the green beer, get your corned beef and cabbage cooking, and hopefully, you might be able to find a leprechaun this year at the end of the rainbow because the St. Patrick’s Day celebration will be here in only 8 days.

 width=

Raglan Road Irish Pub at Disney Springs definitely wants to make the ‘Irish” experience a traditional one for many guests. To do that, they will have their annual St. Patrick’s Day festival from March 16th through March 19th, 2017. The team at Raglan Road takes the Irish holiday so seriously they have actually put some tips together for guests on how to truly “celebrate like the Irish:”

  • Don’t call the holiday “St. Patty’s.” It’s either “St. Patrick’s Day” or “St. Paddy’s.”
  • A shamrock has three leaves (not four – that would be a clover).
  • Americans invented the St. Patrick’s Day parade in 1737 in Boston.
  • Most Irish pubs do a full month’s business on St. Patrick’s Day.
  • Guinness sells 13 million pints on St. Patrick’s Day versus the usual 5 million daily.
  • Green beer is an American invention. Raglan Road does not serve green beer.

New at this year’s festival is the Irish and hearty rock celebration band, The Young Dubliners, as well as Byrne Brothers who are 3 brothers ages 12, 10, and 7. Some of the bands returning again to the festival are the HanaLena Band, The Raglan Roots Coalition, Swingin’ On the Gate, Rollickin’ Rua and the Raglan Road Irish Dancers. For the full entertainment listing, visit raglanroad.com.

Not only is there amazing talent and entertainment, there will also be an assortment of traditional Irish food for purchase at the restaurant. Guests can order from popular brunch, lunch, bar and dinner menus, including loin of bacon and cabbage, the authentic Irish dish of St. Patrick’s Day. Also as a daily item, Fish and Chips will be available. Since St. Patrick’s Day can’t be it without the beer, Guinness, a Mighty Festival Brew, and  Bailey’s Shakes will all be available on tap. The Mighty Festival Brew which is new for the festival, is a brew made in collaboration with the Orange Blossom Brewing Company.

 width=

Irish holiday attire is encouraged, but for those who need an extra dose of shamrock flair, complimentary face painting will be available from noon – 8 p.m. daily during the festival. Please note: On March 17, St. Patrick’s Day, guests will be seated on a first come, first-served basis with a cover charge of $10 for each guest age 18 and older. To make reservations for all other festival days, call 407-938-0300. The festivities take place from 11 a.m. until 2 a.m. March 16-19, 2017.

Téigh go maith agus is féidir leis an Luck na hÉireann a bheith in éineacht leat!- which means go well and may the Luck of the Irish be with you!

RUMOR: Cirque Du Soleil – La Nouba Coming to an End at Disney Springs

It seems as though the long-running Cirque Du Soleil – La Nouba show at Disney Springs is reaching its end…

 width=

Upcoming promotional materials for the show talk about giving guests the opportunity to see La Nouba “one last time”. These materials do not speak about what will replace the show, but our assumption would be the a new show from Cirque would debut in a newly renovated theater at some point in the future. We have not been able to pinpoint an end date for La Nouba as of yet, but an announcement is expected later this week.

La Nouba debuted in December 1998 and has been performing regularly at Disney Springs (formerly Downtown Disney) over the last 19 years.

The work on renovating the theater would coincide with the conversion of DisneyQuest into the NBA Experience and other changes (which we can’t talk about just yet) that will happen to the West Side of Disney Springs over the next few years.

CONFIRMED: La Nouba Will Have Its Final Performance on December 31st, 2017

 width=

The La Nouba by Cirque du Soleil show has been entertaining Disney Springs guests for 19 years since 1998. The show is, unfortunately, coming to a close this year. The final performance will take place on December 31st, 2017.

With ten months to take in a show, you still have plenty of time to be mesmerized by the artistry of the talented La Nouba team. For additional details, including current offers, or to purchase tickets, click here or call 407-939-7600.

“We are incredibly proud of the success that La Nouba has had for nearly two decades,” said Jerry Nadal, Senior Vice President of the Resident Shows Division for Cirque du Soleil. “We want to thank Walt Disney World Resort for a wonderful relationship over the years. We look forward to announcing what’s next for Cirque du Soleil.”

Disney and Cirque du Soleil will soon have news to share about new entertainment coming to Disney Springs, so stay tuned for future updates.

VIDEO: Enchanted Rose Cake Inspired by ‘Beauty and the Beast’, Now Available at Amorette’s

If you have ever visited Amorette’s Patisserie at Disney Springs and looked into the display case of all the delectable confections, you will see that each handcrafted dessert is a remarkable piece of art. All new cakes are first sketched on paper. After the sketch has been drawn, the extremely talented cake decorators will then bring the sketch to life, just as the inanimate objects in ‘Beauty and the Beast’ are brought to life in the movie. The video below from the Disney Parks Blog shows one of the pastry artists creating an Enchanted Rose Cake inspired by the live-action film “Beauty and the Beast.”
