VIDEO: Imagineers Provide a Behind the Scenes Look at Slinky Dog Dash Coaster, Toy Story Land

Disney has released a new video showing off more of the Slinky Dog Dash coaster coming to Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

Go behind the scenes with a handful of Imagineers that are working on the project to see the process of bringing this all-new family coaster to life.

From the Disney Parks Blog:

The ride vehicle, which is themed after the character of Slinky from “Toy Story,” took Imagineers from multiple disciplines a few years to design, so the group was thrilled to see the finished product arrive on the site firsthand. According to the Imagineers, the vehicle was created to reflect Slinky’s personality, the movement and motion of a Slinky toy, and of course Slinky’s adorable look which will be visible throughout the land as the coaster moves along the track.

“This is a ride for the whole family: it’s fun, it’s exciting, it’s thrilling, but it’s not scary,” said Imagineer Bob Vignec. “It’s a rollercoaster, but it’s also this fun character that will be out in the land. You sort of get a little bit of goosebumps seeing it here for the first time.”

Slinky Dog Dash will open alongside Toy Story Land at Disney’s Hollywood Studios next Summer.

PHOTOS: New Preview of “Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway” Ride Debuts, First Look at Animatronic Figures

Also debuting today inside Walt Disney Presents at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a preview of the upcoming “Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway” attraction, replacing the Great Movie Ride inside of the Chinese Theater.

Just across from the Star Wars” Galaxy’s Edge and Toy Story Land models, guests will find this display.

Most of the display just shows scenes from the Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts.

For those worried the ride would be only projection-based, here is an Imagineer working on what appears to be a maquette of a set of audio-animatronic Mickey and Minnie figures inside of a car, just like on the attraction poster.

Today, a small piece of the large model for Star wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios debuted in the Walt Disney Presents exhibit.

The model piece isn’t really very different from the larger, full model we saw of the Disneyland project back at the D23 Expo. Both lands will be very similar, with only a few small differences.

PHOTO: Baseline Tap House Sign Unveiled At Grand Avenue

We made our way to Disney’s Hollywood Studios to check out changes and progress today noticed that the sign for the Baseline Tap House has gone up on Grand Avenue. Check it out below!

Since the bar and lounge is supposed to be an abandoned print shop with ties to the Walt Disney Studios, the sign features individual letter slugs like would be used in printing.

Muppets Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is No More, Grand Avenue Taking Over

The recently named Muppets Courtyard at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is already no more, as Disney announced today that the entire land and the remains of the Streets of America will all become the new Grand Avenue area this Fall.

 width=

Muppets Courtyard, along with a portion of the former Streets of America, is being re-imagined by Walt Disney Imagineering to become a new area called Grand Avenue. Inspired by the revitalization and the vibrant culture of present-day downtown Los Angeles, Grand Avenue is where vintage office buildings and warehouses are being converted to exciting new uses. Guests will soon see facades for “merchants” appearing in this area for a music shop, loft apartments, a tailor and more, with each window on the street featuring charming displays.

Grand Avenue includes BaseLine Tap House, which takes over the former Writer’s Stop. This new corner pub will feature California beers and wines along with a selection of small bites.

The current Muppets Courtyard will become Grand Park, an urban square off Grand Avenue surrounded by shops and restaurants like PizzeRizzo and Mama Melrose’s Ristorante Italiano. Guests can already see changes in the area, with the Muppets theater being renamed “Grand Arts Theatre” and boasting a brand-new marquee. Disney has assured guests that the hilarious and irreverent “Muppet*Vision 3D” show will remain in this new area.

The future of the Stage 1 “Muppets Store” and various themed elements in the area remains in doubt as Disney has not mentioned them specifically.

PHOTOS: The Great Movie Ride Signs & Banners Removed from Chinese Theater

Early this morning, we made our way over to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and noticed that of all signs relating to The Great Movie Ride including the marquees and side theater banners had been removed. These items have been up on the Chinese Theater since the park opened back in 1989, so it is strange to see them gone.
