RoE: Dated 2014 Sorcerer Mickey

Dated 2014 Figures
WDW, DLR, HK and DLP
WDW and DLR have a 12/13 release date and $12.95 price.
All Blind Box and Open Edition with Variants
Variant Odds: 1 in 10
There will be a separate figure for each of those four parks that will be exclusive to that park.

Regular (right) and Variant (left, clear) for Disneyland Paris

Walt Disney World

Disneyland

Walt Disney World

Disneyland Paris

Hong Kong Disneyland

Update: It looks like there are red hat variants. Could this point to a blind boxed figure like Food and Wine with a special number of variants?

Update: We took a closer look and here are the differences. Park Icons in the robes and Disney Park Logos on the back of the head.

It looks like this year’s experiment for 13 figures for 2013 didn’t work out well enough to try it again next year. Although, I can not tell from this angle, but I think each park might have a slightly different figure, which would mean at least four (slightly) different figures.
Did you collect any of the 2013 figures?

Disneyland Paris 20th Anniversary Vinylmation

Original As of 12/3
As of 12/11

As of 01/21

As of 04/12

As of 05/01/12
As of 05/13/12
Update: 05/13/12 This graphic went in a completely different direction then we ever thought. Instead of slow revealing elements layered underneath, they are adding and subtracting things. This update gets rid of the water drops that were added last update, moves the balloon from lower right corner to inside the “0”, takes away the peek of the castle above the 20 and replaces the water at the bottom with the colorful panoramic featuring various DLP attractions.
The graphic still links to the US Vinylmation site, but they added a release date: May 17, 18, 19 and 20 will see Cheshire Cat 2-pack, 9″ Crying Alice and “other surprises.”

Update: 05/01/12 Dew drops added to DLP Vinylmation logo… any guesses?

Update: 04/14/12 These figures will not be exclusive to DLP. At least the four 3″ figures will be released at WDW and DLR on April 20th.

Update: 04/12/12 New images debuts as shown above. but does not reveal anything new. In fact, the 20 logo with Tink and stars seems to be a new graphic rather than an add on or color in as Tink is different and the stars are in varying places. Also the sorcerer hand is missing. No new hints to vinyls revealed and the graphic still links back to the US Disney Vinylmation blog site. The info below the graphic has been updated however. Nothing revolutionary, but it does announce the Disneyland Paris 20th celebration on April 12th (today). There are events at Pueblo Trading Post at 10:30 with the team DLP Collectibles (Pin, Vinylmation, and many other things)

Update: 02/27/12 @VM_Paris pointed us to a forum on the French DLP fan site Disney Central Plaza who has an interview with Marianne Sharpe, Director of Merchandise at Disneyland Paris, who revealed 4 of the DLP 20th anniversary Vinylmation figures.

A very colorful set of figures. No details on how they will be released, but the costumes sure fit in with the screen shot we brought to you a few weeks ago (see it below).

Update: 02/21/12 The French Disney fan site Disney Showcase Key reports that their source, a Disneyland Paris Cast Member, says Park 10 will be completely DLP themed. Just like I enjoyed Parks 7 and 8 being WDW themed, I would welcome a DLP themed Park 10. Your thoughts? They also updated Vinylmation.fr to include locations to purchase Vinylmation.

Update: 01/22/12 The newly updated splash page lights up another star or two, ads some water to the bottom of the screen and an image of the castle turrets begin to appear above the 2.

Update: 01/13/12 According to @VM_Paris, a new video released by DLP about the festivities surrounding the upcoming DLP 20th celebration points to possible Vinylmation designs.

There are rumored to be figures in DLP costumes.

Update: 12/11/11 Another gives us a couple more lit stars and a balloon in the bottom right corner. The balloon appears to be PanoraMagique, the hot air balloon guests can ride at the Disney Village, DLP’s version of Downtown Disney.

Opening in 2005, it’s a 6 minute flight above Lake Disney and the DLP resort. It is the largest tethered balloon in the world. In 2007, it was given a DLP 15th anniversary overlay…

…witch makes us wonder if a 20th version is in the works? This balloon would surely also make a great DLP exclusive Vinylmation figure.

Update: 12/3/11 Looks like they updated the image. I wonder how many of these they have planned?

Update: 12/1/11 A newly released ad (thanks to @VM_Paris) announces the celebration will start on April 1st, 2012. Not sure how this effects the vinylmation, but it’s a good reference date.

Our friends over at disneyshowcasekey.blogspot.com brought to our attention some info on several 20th Anniversary vinylmation coming to Paris. Along with this will be what seems to be a Vinylmation website just for France at www.vinylmation.fr. Just that logo is up at the moment, but check back and see what appears soon!

Disney Showcase Key also has some rumors of the exclusive Vinylmation we may see. According to a Google translation, here’s what it appears to point to.

A set of twelve 3″ figures depicting. Disneyland Paris Attractions.
A set of 4 or 5 Disney Characters in Costume presumably from DLP.
and A 9″ 20 Anniversary piece with three 3″ fairies from Sleeping Beauty.

Check out the original article: Here! What are some attractions we might see? Here are some of my choices for figures based on some attractions unique to DLP:

Alice’s Curious Labyrinth
Phantom Manor
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Peril

What do you think? Any ideas of figures?

Disneyland Paris’ Castle is from Sleeping Beauty. Will the 9″ be similar to the 5th Anniversary Hong Kong 9″?

Park 10 Explained

Park 10 Explained
Release Date: July 11, 2012 at Disneyland Paris (no US release date yet)
Price:
Details: Park 10 is dedicated to all Disneyland Paris designs.

Update 7/26/12 Park 10 will be available at the Orlando and Anaheim D-Streets on August 3.
Update 7/19/12 Updated with HQ photos from @DLPWonderful.
Update 7/9/12 July 11 is the rumored released date for Park 10 at Disneyland Paris. No announcement of a US release date. This date comes 2 days before the US release of Park 9. @VM_Paris just put out this tweet: “Release date for #Vniylmation Park 10 is july 11th for #disneylandparis”

Big Thunder Mountain RailroadLike the Magic Kingdom train in Park 9, this version has a smoke stack on top of the head.

Aladdin’s Enchanted Passage

A really cool look to this one with Aladdin’s shadow at the bottom and the colorful stars in the ears.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of PerilA thrill ride in Adventureland at Disneyland Paris, this coaster takes guests on a journey through the world of Indiana Jones. The figure has a nice look to it with snakes in the ears.

Phantom Manor MayorThanks to my friend Adam over at DisneyBrit.com for confirming this one. This guy is found inside the Disneyland Paris equivalent to the Haunted Mansion and removes his head as guests pass by. Can anyone confirm the internet rumor I found that his head is or is modeled after Dreamfinder from Journey Into Imagination? It does resemble him.

OrbitronThere are many rides like this throughout the various Tommorowland’s at the Disney parks. It is a high flying orbiting attraction similar to WDW’s Astro Orbiter.

Tower of TerrorOpened in 2007, Paris’s La Tour de la Terreur is located in the Walt Disney Studios Park.  It is nearly identical to the TOT building at Disney’s California Adventure, except for minor differences in interior room locations and the Paris version is a half meter taller. At 183 feet, it is the second tallest attraction at DLP (Big Thunder Mountain is 197 feet). The figure itself is a more literal interpretation of the Tower of Terror than we have seen in the past.

Toy Soldiers Parachute DropOne of the newer rides in Paris it is located in the Walt Disney Studios Park. The design is just a perfect fit with the parachute taking up Mickey’s head, then the base of the ride taking up the body.

Moteurs… Action Stunt Show SpectacularLocated in Walt Disney Studios Park, this was the original, before it was brought to Orlando’s DHS. This is a brilliant use of mold here. Putting the car on the head like it is jumping the flames below… simply perfect.

It’s a Small WorldA colorful representation of an attraction seen in all the Disney parks, the artist chooses the sun as the focal point with some of the flags and shrubbery. More of a representation than a part of the ride.

Skull RockThis cave can be found in the Adventure Isle part of Adventureland. Guests can venture inside and look out through the giant eyes. The artist did a great job of representing both the rock skull and the water below.

Swiss Family Tree HouseLa Cabane des Robinson looms high over the Disneyland Paris park, and this colorful looking figure seems to take it’s design cues from concept art such as this sign. It is a more idealistic look at the tree house than any real picture of it I can find.

Disneyland Paris 20th Anniversary Vinyls On Sale

Thanks to the Disney Showcase Key blog (on twitter @DShowcasekey), we now have word that the Paris 20th anniversary Vinylmation are on store shelves at DLP. Here is a look at the shelves at Harringtons, a store on Main Street in DLP.

The four 3″ figures are Goofy, Mickey, Minnie and Donald in DLP costumes. There also seem to be four different Jr Keychain combos each including a Disney character and a second figure with logos or symbols from the DLP 20th celebration.

What’s on the Vinylmation Horizon

So, what’s with this information drought Disney? No solid info has been posted on Vinylmation.com since before the Super Bowl. And with an ever shrinking confirmed release calendar, the Vinylmation collecting community is wondering what’s next? So I thought this is as good a time as any to go over what sets and figures we know about that should eventually get released. The first on my list was an intriguing collection that we saw at The Florida Project.

These 7″ battery operated night light Vinylmation had the community excited… but by the end of the weekend, Disney announced they would be indefinitely delayed. Next up, Disney Classics.

Touted as the Have a Laugh follow up, the release of this series seems to be on the near horizon as it does appear in the Sneak section of Vinylmation.com. The picture above is from a teaser slide at The Florida Project. It looks like a black and white set of classic Disney characters as they first appeared many decades ago. Then we have a follow up to the popular Disney Store Robots series.

We expect to see Robots Series 2 sometime in 2012. We were excited to uncover a couple pictures from a website called http://gdpinvestigation.blogspot.com/. They claim these are images of Robots from Series 2.

This first image features some concept art.

This second image seems like the packaging design. How about a blast from the past? The next two pieces of concept art were already posted online at Vinylnation by the time I started collecting about two years ago. They both seem to feature Disney Vacation Club exclusive figure designs.

This first one is purple with a gold key.
The second one is a wonderful little white picket fence design with Mickey Heads and a “Home Sweet Home” sign. We only have one DVC figure so far… will we ever see these produced? You can put these on the shelf next to Clear Series 2. What ever happened to those? Let’s dive into the movies for a bit. Last year, Disney released a teaser image for a Pirates of the Caribbean On Stranger Tides set.
This Casey Jones designed set is expected to hit shelves sometime in 2012. No word on if it will open window or mystery box. This next set has a more solid release window. It’s the Jr. 6 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. We don’t have a release date, but Disney says to expect it in April. We recently found this image of the packaging on http://gdpinvestigation.blogspot.com/.
I am so excited for this detailed Jr set. The seven dwarfs are a given, but it will be interesting to finally get the reveal of the remaining 11 figures. Sticking with the movies…
Disney Character Star Wars is rumored to have a release around Star Wars Weekends at Hollywood Studios (May 18-June 12). We should also see the second Star Wars blind box series later this year as well.
October is the rumored release window. Park Starz was an exciting 2011 release, and Disney promised we will see variants in 2012.
No pictures yet, but Disney said they will sell variants individually, meaning no blind boxing for them. This is a fresh approach were you can just go ahead and purchase the variant outright if you want it. We also have one hint… “copper”. Most people are looking at you Mr. Lincoln. Sticking with the “breaking the mold” theme…
We know absolutely nothing about Popcorns except this teaser image. But we do know plenty about Haunted Mansion… except a release date.
Between pins and concept art, we have a solid idea of what this set will look like. But for two years, we have been hearing rumors of release… I think I speak for everyone when I say “Please Disney, make 2012 the year we finally see this one!” And don’t forget the watch.
This is due out around March/April. And last but not least…
Vinylmation.fr has been teasing us for about 4 months. We are expecting some exclusive vinyl sometime this year in honor of Disneyland Paris’ 20th anniversary. So as you can see, although it has been a slow news month, we as Vinylmation collectors have a lot to look forward to in 2012 and beyond. What have I left off this list? What are you most looking forward too?

Trading Nights at Disneyland Paris

Thanks to @VM_Paris, we have a couple Disneyland Paris Vinylmation and Pin trading nights to announce. The first is tonight at Hotel New York!

The next trading event will take place on April 28th at Walt Disney Studios.

Vinylmation Speculation: Disneyland Paris Mystery Set

As you probably know by now, Disney has set up a new Vinylmation website for France, www.Vinylmation.fr. And today, they even updated to a third teaser image. If the rumor is true, we will soon see the announcement of a 12 figure mystery box set based on Disneyland Paris. If you are like us, you can’t wait for the actual announcment. And since we have never visited DLP, we asked a big fan of the park to speculate on what she thinks would make some great look vinyls for this set. Enjoy this article by Lindsey and let us know your ideas.

This list has beeen created based on things that I feel best represent Disneyland Paris for both uniqueness as well as being special. Some things may be quiet obscure but I wanted to focus on things that make the park different to the other Disney Parks worldwide. These are also things that I personally enjoy whenever I visit DLP.

1- Disney & Co Boutique Organ

This Organ has now been moved from its home in Disneyland Paris and will be going to WDW for the new Dumbo area in Fantasyland.

2- Alice’s Curious Maze

Photo from DLP.info

We already have a themed set of Alice, but a Vinylmation of this attraction would be justified as it’s unique to Disneyland Paris.

3- Phantom Manor

Now they have confirmed that the Phantom himself would be appearing in an upcoming Park set. But I think one based on the attraction or the building itself would be welcome.

4- Annette’s Diner

A bit more obscure as its actually in the Disney Village next to the park, but it’s become such a famous location that it deserves a place in this line up. It should Feature a waitresses on Rollerskates!

5- Indiana Jones et le Temple De Peril

Photo from DLP.info

This is a themed rollercoaster and the first Disney ride anywhere to feature a 360 loop (opened in 1993). So I think something themed to this ride would do well. Also, who doesn’t love Indy?

6- Skull Island

Photo from DLP.info

This is a big rock statue based on the iconic island from Peter Pan and think it would make a cool Vinylmation.

7- La Taniere Du Dragon

Photo from DLP.info

Though the famous Dragon from Sleeping Beauty should be on the rumoured 9”, this encounter with the sleeping dragon found at DLP is a worthy contender. The dragon is sleeping but he also awakens and blows smoke so this would be great as a Varient!

8- Videopolis Theatre (Hyperion)

This is a huge Airship which housed a stage for various productions. Now it just shows Disney shorts, but this iconic design deserves a Vinyl.

9- The Timekeeper (Le Visionarium)

Copyright Disney

This attraction was there from the park opening in 1992 until it was replaced by Buzz Lightyear. It was the first ‘Euro Disney’ attraction to be re-made at another Disney park (it later showed up at Magic Kingdom).

10- Moteurs… Action!

This stunt show has also made it over to America (at Disney’s Hollywood Studios) and I think it will be a fun Vinyl.

11- Cinemagique

I love this show I have to see it every time we visit and normally more than once every time we visit. This unique 4D mixes live action with video. The show goes through different movies where Martin Short is skipping through the decades of movies. It is exclusive to Disneyland Paris and I think it would be nice to pay homage to it. A Martin Short Vinylmation maybe….

12- Crush’s Coaster

This spinning rollercoaster ride were the ride vehicle is a Shell with 2 front facing and 2 back facing seats, is based on Finding Nemo and is another Disneyland Paris exclusive. It is still one of the park’s busiest rides!

13- Discovery Arcade

Photo from DLP.info

This is set behind the shops on Main Street and fits in really well. It has a lot of historic inventions and artwork. It is also a lovely place to stop and eat in the colder months. It is stunning to look at.
