Update: It looks like there are red hat variants. Could this point to a blind boxed figure like Food and Wine with a special number of variants?

Update: We took a closer look and here are the differences. Park Icons in the robes and Disney Park Logos on the back of the head.

It looks like this year’s experiment for 13 figures for 2013 didn’t work out well enough to try it again next year. Although, I can not tell from this angle, but I think each park might have a slightly different figure, which would mean at least four (slightly) different figures.

The Maria Clapsis designed Mad T Party combo set will be released at Disneyland on December 7th.

It has an edition size of 3000 and will retail for $26.95. It is based on the nighttime dance party held at Disney’s California Adventure.

Disneyland Classics Signing Cancelled

We all knew it was going to be a long two days for Eric Caszatt when the Classics collection comes out, but today the Vinylmation blog announced that the signing at Disneyland would no longer take place. The one at WDW is still going on though. No word on what exactly happened, but it’s sad to see such a cool idea (back to back signings) not happen. It does still seem like DLR will be getting the set released on Saturday November 10th.

DLR Passholder Variant Revealed

Like we conjectured on the podcast (which isn’t even out yet!) Disneyland will be getting a variant of the WDW Passholder vinylmation. Not only will the writing be changed to reflect the other park, the top balloon will also be a different color! The DLR one is yellow, the WDW is blue.

What do you think of these vinyls? Will you get both? Only one? Will the other parks get these too, like the Celebrations First Visit Balloons?

Disney’s California Adventure and Cars Land 2012 Explained

Finally some Disneyland Exclusives for all those California folk who have sat by and watched two straight Park series dedicated to WDW. Disney has announced a huge merchandise lineup the celebrate the opening of Carsland and the re-opening of the reimagined DCA. Here is a look at the full catalog. It is chock full of shirts, pins, coins and of course… Vinylmation.

The three limited edition pieces will be on sale at the event on June 15th in Disneyland. The other 3″ open edition figures will also be out that same day and retail for $12.95 each. For the three limited edition pieces there will be a purchase limit of only one per person and will be found in Zone 3 at the event. The event takes place at the Animation Building in DCA. Furry Friends hitting the parks in February

Today vinylmation.com announced that Furry Friends would not be in WDW or DLR on the 9th, but instead the release has been moved to February. Now we weren’t even aware they were supposed to be in the parks at that time, so we aren’t too disappointed. Who’s looking to get these?

ZoMG: Alice signing with Thomas Scott- DLR

I would like to first start this article off by saying a big THANK YOU to Thomas Scott for making this Alice in Wonderland Vinylmation series possible. Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite Disney movies and I really think Thomas nailed it. This is my favorite set of Vinylmation to date. I have never been so excited about an entire set (and I’ve been collecting for the past 3 years). I was so excited to finally meet Thomas and tell him how much I love this series and everything he created for it! The Alice in Wonderland Vinylmation series includes, the set of 12 + 2 variants, the Cheshire Cat limited edition set of two 3 inch Vinylmation, as well as two 9 inch Vinylmation, the Walrus & the Carpenter (which will look so good with the 3 inch little oysters!) and some super secret information that Thomas told me today, a 9 inch crying Alice that comes with THREE jrs! One “Eat Me” cookie Jr, one “Drink Me” bottle Jr, and one happy Alice Jr. (See our post on Alice 9″ Combo)	All pictures by Zoe
Now lets get to the event! I arrived at Downtown Disney on Saturday around 7:30 am and was 26th in line. The morning was very chilly but completely worth it. Everyone passed the time trading, talking and getting excited to go inside D-Street to buy their Alice in Wonderland Vinylmation! After buying my tray I got into the signing line that was to begin at 10:00 am. I couldn’t wait to open up my tray so I got right to it! After opening my tray I realized that I got the pink Hedgehog variant! Pink is my favorite color and I really wanted this one so I was pretty excited. Little random note, only one pink variant in my tray not two, so I had one pink and one green. The signing began at 10:00 and Thomas was so excited to see everyone come out to Downtown Disney to talk with him and get their Vinylmation signed! Thomas spent a lot of time with each person, taking questions, Vinylmation talk etc. I love that he took time to talk with everyone. He genuinely loves what he does and I mean honestly who doesn’t. Thomas is definitely one of the best Vinylmation artists out there. I was so excited to show him my variant! I had Thomas sign my Dinah, pink Hedgehog and my tray! I couldn’t stop telling him how much I love the set and the art, everything as a whole in this series. He was very happy to see how much I enjoyed the set. Thomas actually told me that he has read some of the stuff I’ve done for Destination Vinylmation – how cool is that! He also shared with me the designs for the Alice and 3 junior combo set! (Which I explained earlier) After getting my Vinylmation signed I went to go trade the couple I had bought from the Disney Store the night before because I couldn’t wait until the event to see at least one of the figures in person! I had gotten the Mad Hatter and an Oyster. One of my friends noticed that my Mad Hatter had different feet than the one in my tray! That’s when we all realized there was ANOTHER variant! Now me again just being SO excited, I run up to Thomas and say look did you know about this! Look another variant! And he laughs and goes, “Yes I know, I designed it” haha. Needless to say, I had such a great time at the Vinylmation Alice in Wonderland signing event. I got the complete set of Alice in Wonderland, variants and all, the Vinylmation gods must have been with me. The event today was organized and I think everyone had a great time and really enjoyed this new release! It was awesome to finally meet Thomas Scott and chat with him about his work, and have some of my figures from the set signed! I can’t say enough good things about this set. I honestly can’t pick one favorite because they all look so perfect! Thomas captured the personality of each character perfectly and it goes perfect on to the Vinylmation mold. If you aren’t close to Disneyland or Disney World, please visit your local Disney Store (if you haven’t already) and get some of the Alice in Wonderland Vinylmation! Thomas Scott created an amazing set that I think every Vinylmation fan needs in their collection! -Zoe

Update: 11/17/11 According to vinylmation.com’s blog, there will be several of these pieces at D-Street Florida, also being released on 11/18. Good news for all of us on the East Coast.

Update: 11/9/11 The art of Disney blog updated today with more info about these figures. The 3″ figures will go for $150 and the 9″ figures for $650. No word on how many of each there are. The figures will be sold first at the D23 event on the 17th, then if any are left they will be handing out wristbands at 7 AM on the 18th. For more details check out the blog at ArtofDisney.com.

Update: 11/1/11 Today vinylmation.com released the first pics of the NOAH figures from the Muppet Mayhem event. No idea if these come as packs or how many of each there are, but so far (if they follow the pattern of NOAH releases, they will all be sold separately and are part of a series of similar figures.) I really like all these figures. The details are awesome, the drum sticks and collar for Animal and the Piggy kiss and collar for Kermit!

Announced today on the vinylmation.com blog was the Muppets Mayhem event at D-Street in Downtown Disney in California. On display will be some of new artwork celebrating the release of the new Muppets movie. One of the artists on hand will be NOAH. There will be lots demonstrations and signings; as well as new shirts, paintings, and even a Vinylmation that we have yet to see designs of.

The D23 only event will be on Thursday November 17th at 7 pm. Tickets are free but you have to sign up for them starting on October 31st at 10 AM PST at the D23 page here.

The public event will be on Friday November 18th. Art demonstrations will begin at 1:30, with NOAH demonstrating his work from 4 – 5 PM. After that the artists will be signing their work from 5 – 7 PM.
