Aladdin Junior Series 10 Explained

Aladdin Junior Series 10 Explained

Release Date: January 10
Where: Disney Stores, Online, D-Streets
$9.95 per blind box
18 figure set

This Junior series based on the 1992 Disney animated feature film is the first Junior series designed by Disney Store artists.

Update: 02/04/14 Based on the officially released imaged by Disney and the leaked photo of the side of the case of Aladdin vinyls, it appears Disney has released images of the chasers early. They did not officially announce them as chaser, but if the box is not a misprint, than they certainly are. They do not seem to be variants of any other figure. The two figures assumed to be the chaser are the last two photos on this page (in case you do not want to see them) Also, Disney seemed to not release images of 4 of the common figures: Abu, Jasmine in red dress, Aladdin and Jafar as old man in prison.

presentation announcing upcoming Vinylmation. This year’s theme is Disney Villains. The Story Goes:

“In a far away land there lived a wicked and vain Queen who wanted more power. While pouring over ancient spell books, she discovered an incantation that, when performed on the darkest of days – Friday the 13th – could bring together thirteen of the most evil Disney villains known only as “The 13.” To cast this spell, the Queen must use a powerful, supernatural object – a magic mirror – to transport “The 13” from across time to the present day. As luck would have it, Friday the 13th will take place in September this year! The Queen decided this would be the perfect day to cast the spell.

Let’s fast forward to September. As the newly assembled Villains are hashing out their nefarious plans, the Villains intentionally break the mirror and hide the thirteen shards. Now the mirror can never be used against them, as it is the only object that can send them home. Lucky for us, an imaginative purple dragon named Figment overheard their plotting and asks Mickey Mouse for help. Along with five of their trusted friends known as the “Lucky 7,” Mickey Mouse and Figment devise a plan to stop “The 13.” They must reassemble the broken shards to send the villains back to their rightful places in time.”

EVENT VINYLMATION
I love the inclusion of the Beagle Brothers. They don’t get on much merchandise. I’m a little surprise they do not have hats. I’m also a stickler when ears are not used well. But they are designed beautifully and are a must have.

Great idea for a combo set. Wonderful artwork on Dr. Facilier and I would expect no less from Ron Cohee. The hat looks great and I love the splash of color on the ears. The juniors are a nice companions, fit in with the story and are expertly designed on the 1.5 inch canvas.

This is also a great idea for a combo. You get Mim in her normal form and in one of her transformations. Great artwork.

This is the least impressive piece of the Reflections event bunch. The face and horns look good, but I just don’t think Maleficent was the right choice for the Minnie platform. i do like how the bow gives the artist the chance to draw that straight line across, but it is an awful lot of yellow up there. For some reason the Minnie body comes across as a dress and not a robe and just looks odd.

An absolutely wonderful variant follow up to Sully’s original Popcorns figure. I wish this one was the original design released.

Monsters University Explained

Monsters University
Release Date: June 14
$12.95
A 12 figure, mystery set based on the Disney Pixar movie Monsters University. It is mostly designed by Ron Cohee with one contribution by Thomas Scott. Overall, it is a well designed series by one of my favorite vinyl character artists. I am sure to have a stronger connection to some of the new Monsters U characters after watching the movie, but its hard to connect to a set like this before the movie is released. Mike and Sully and Randall and Sanderson look wonderful!

Update 06/19/13 Apparently there was a production error with the Art figure. He was originally shown to have a clear see through body, however the figure actually produced has a solid color body. Disney admitted the mistake and has shown us the photo of the correct Art.

However, some collectors have reported pulling the clear version. So it seems this one may be a rare unintentional “variant” of sorts.

Update 06/18/13 The chaser and a variant have been revealed by Disney. First, the chaser is Terri and Terry Perry.

Then, the variant is none other than the Scare Pig!

In the variant version, the Scare Pig has a Monsters U logo as opposed to Fear Tech. In the movie, I believe he is the mascot of FT. I’m sure the MU logo variant refers to a plot point in the movie.

Muppets 3 Explained

Muppets 3
July 26th 2013
A 12 figure blind box series designed by Monty Maldovan.

Reporter Kermit

I think this is my favorite of the set. I also think this might be a copyright problem, but I don’t care! He HAS to come with an accessory microphone! Please!

Gonzo the Great

My second favorite of the set. The cape is almost, almost awesome enough to forgive the lack of Star Wars 2 chaser nose.

Animal

Similar to the 9″ figure from the 2nd series, I hope it comes with a drumstick!

Liberty Piggy

Kinda fun, if we hadn’t seen this type of figure before.

Captain Sam

I think this is from Muppets Treasure Island, but I’m definitely getting this one for my dad (although he already has the 9″ version).

Beauregard

He needs a mop accessory. I also think they could put some crazy hair in the ears a little to do something with them!

Newsman

The maps in the ears with the brown borders is absolutely perfect. Love his look.

Uncle Deadly

He looks ugly, mean and tattered… just as he should.

Crazy Harry

Great figure! I kinda want a a stick of dynamite as an accessory!

Mahna Mahna

Looks great! Can’t wait to get this and two Snowths!
Snowth

This HAS to be the triplet!

Beauty and the Beast Explained

Beauty and the Beast
Release Date: June 21
$12.95
This 12 figure, mystery set was designed by both Maria Clapsis and Caley Hicks and may be my favorite movie themed Vinylmation set ever.

Updated: 5/16/13 Variants and Chaser announced.

Beast

Wonderful design. Love the facial expression. Perfect cape!

Belle

Maria went with the blue dress, and I love the choice. Leaves room for a few variants or special edition Belles. The use of ears is fantastic in the entire series with the stained glass… Belle also has a book and a rose.

Blonde Triplet Paula

We speculated on how and if they would include these girls and this sets up an obvious variant. If the other two girls are not included, a major disappointment. If they are… one of the biggest wins in Vinylmation history.

We also get variants. As expected her other triplets.

Cogsworth

Perfect fit on the Mickey platform. Wonderful face.

Gaston

I’ll be honest, I love the Villains version more, but he is done well with the arrows on the back and fun ears.

Phillipe

I didn’t expect him, yet am glad he is in the set. might be the one of the best looking long animals on the Mickey platform. Perfect proportions.

Lefou

His build naturally fits onto the vinyl form, but it is the clothing that is tailored perfectly around the canvas and the pony tail hanging over the collar in the back that make this one great.

Lumiere

Can’t get any better than this. the accessory top was a must to make this figure perfect  I commend the artists for knowing when to use items like that.

Maurice

Belle’s dad also gets gets a cape and again, it’s the faces that are done so well in this set.

Monsieur D’arque

Interesting add to this set. Really makes me wonder about the chaser even more now. I love the addition and the design is wonderful. Not many people would think of him for this set, so I applaud the artist. Coins in ear a must.

Mrs. Potts

WOW! This one blows me away. So much to see here. A clear pink body sets up the table and some dancing plates, spoons and forks. Then Mrs. Potts fills out the head with perfection and a handle drawn onto the rear. THEN, CHIP! Drawn onto the ear. Best figure in the set, hands down.

Mystery Chaser

Here is Adam, the Beast as a human. What do you think? My female friends (when I was in middle school) always said he was hotter as the beast.
