Disney Cruise Line to ‘Freeze in Frozen Fractal Fun’ This Summer

Returning again this summer, get ready to build a snowman, because a major winter storm is heading across the fjords all the way to Disney Cruise Line! That’s right folks, Elsa, Anna and the whole gang are taking a little vacation from the small country of Arendelle and heading off to explore the world aboard Disney Cruise Line.

On select sailings aboard the Disney Wonder and Magic throughout May, June, and July 2017, Elsa and the whole gang will be vacationing and bringing back guests a ‘Winter in Summer Celebration’ that include new experiences, a deck party, a stage show and much more! Here are some things to look forward to this coming celebration:

Memorable Moments With Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf

Guests can finally “For the First time in Forever” meet Anna, Elsa, Kristoff, and Olaf aboard the DCL and take pictures with them, as well as have them sign autographs. Not only that, but you can find the royal visitors year round! Younger guests who take part in the Oceaneer club can also find ‘Frozen’ adventures year-round as well as kids receiving special surprise visits from the Royal Sisters themselves!

Frozen Inspired Dining Experiences sure to make you worth melting for!

For those wanting a little ‘chill’ to help beat the summer heat, there are some unique dining experiences just for that. Inspired by the film, you can feast on a menu that features traditional Nordic Fare. For adults ages 21 and older, you can visit the nightclubs aboard and order a specialty frozen drink as pictured above. On Castaway Cay, you can find an Olaf inspired Winterey watering hole which feautures a hand-selected offering of frozen drink such as “Olafs Flurry Freeze” and “Svens Carrot Delight.”

Frozen Activities

On a surprise morning, the whole atrium lobby will be spiraling into frozen fractals all around when the lobby itself will be decorated with sparkling icicles adorned all along the grand staircase. Then at night take to the deck for a frozen-fied nighttime celebration, “Freezing the Night Away with Elsa and Friends.” Little adventurers can go explore and do a scavenger hunt with Anna where you can go on a chocolate chase and then those wanting to make flurries in frozen fractals, they can make ice and snow in “Do You Wanna Build a Snowman?” To prepare for the deck party, you will be able to learn some Scandinavian dance moves with “Oakens Maypole Swirl and Twirl.”

Adventures Ashore

On the select sailings of the Disney Magic to Norway, you can see the land that inspired Arendelle from Frozen in Ålesund, Norway. There you can immerse yourself into the sport of Norway with the help of Anna and Elsa in this storybook village.

Frozen Summer Fun Premium Package Being Offered Again

Reservations for the Frozen Summer Fun Premium Package (which was introduced last year) are now available for dates from June 17 to September 7. The offerings are about the same as 2014, but there is no event pin gift this time.

Each Frozen Summer Fun Premium Package includes:

See Anna and Elsa in the reserved viewing for Frozen Royal Welcome, complete with refreshments (water, a selection of soft drinks, and ice cream)
Reserved seating for your choice of one show time of For the First Time In Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration
Frozen Fireworks viewing with dessert party, a dazzling nighttime display of fireworks paired with Frozen-themed desserts as well as specialty alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages

Cost is $69 for adults, $39 for children age 3 to 9 (tax and gratuity are included). Reservations can be made online or by calling 407-939-3463. Package availability is limited.

Superstar Television Theater Name to Change as Frozen Sing-Along Moves In; Frozen Event Details Released

Well, we only had to wait 24 hours for Disney to confirm that “For The First Time in Forever” A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration is moving to the Superstar Television Theater this June. The Disney Parks Blog made the announcement moments ago, also stating that the former home of the American Idol Experience will now be called the Hyperion Theater, a nod to the home of the first Disney Studios in California.

Disney also announced the full entertainment line-up for Frozen Summer Fun LIVE:

Frozen Royal Welcome – Twice each day, Anna, Elsa and Kristoff take part in a festive cavalcade throughout Hollywoodland, accompanied by the Royal Arendelle Flag Corps and a flurry of skaters, skiiers and ice cutters – along with lovable snowman, Olaf. Anna leads the procession in a beautiful horse-drawn sleigh, with Elsa gliding by on a stunning, ice palace float. The entire procession pauses twice along the route in tribute to these visitors from Arendelle, as everyone in Hollywoodland is invited to join in singing “Let It Go!”

For the First Time in Forever: A “Frozen” Sing-Along Celebration – Just in time for this year’s “Frozen” Summer Fun LIVE event, this popular show moves into the beautiful Hyperion Theater (formerly Superstar Television Theater), located right in the heart of Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The Royal Historians of Arendelle host a fun and comedic retelling of the unique story of their kingdom, filled with delightful, sing-along moments from “Frozen,” plus all-new in-theater effects and special appearances by Anna, Elsa and Kristoff.

Olaf’s Summer Cool Down – Several times each day, the Ambassador of Hollywoodland brings Olaf and some of his friends to the Event Stage to have a little fun with everyone “In Summer.” And as temperatures heat up, Olaf happily shares a burst from his personal snow cloud to cool things off.

“Coolest Summer Ever” Dance Party – Once the sun goes down, a dance party takes over the area around the Event Stage, with DJ Chill and some of your favorite Disney characters. Using a special event hashtag, you can share song requests and photos over social media, to be featured onscreen during the party.

“Frozen” Fireworks – As the night comes to a close, Anna, Elsa, Kristoff and Olaf come together at the Event Stage for a grand finale to the day’s festivities, kicking off an awe-inspiring fireworks display set to the glorious music of “Frozen” and, of course, a flurry of snow!

“Frozen Fun” Event Confirmed for Disney California Adventure, Details Revealed

Probably the worst-kept Disney secret, “Frozen Fun” is confirmed as coming to Disney California Adventure this holiday season. The event will be very similar in style to Frozen Summer Fun, which was held at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. No start date has been released for the event, but Disney documents did leak what will be offered:

For the First time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration at the “Crown Jewel Theater” (Possibly Muppetvision 3-D)
Olaf’s Snow Fest in Stage 17
Anna and Elsa’s Royal Welcome at Disney Animation attraction
Disney Freeze the Night Party on Hollywood Boulevard (replacing Mad T Party)

VIDEO: New Daily “Frozen Fireworks” Show Debuts at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

The show is an odd, yet interesting mix of live stage show and fireworks, including a video presentation of Olaf’s Summer Vacation featuring photos guests took of the popular snowman throughout the day:

PHOTOS, VIDEO, & REVIEW: Frozen Summer Fun Adds Hours of Entertainment at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Frozen Summer Fun kicked off on July 5th at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we here at WDWNT were on the scene to give you the full run-down of the 2-month-long event at Walt Disney World. Let’s look at this special event centered around the worldwide phenomenon of Frozen:

Anna and Elsa’s Royal Welcome

Daily at 11:00AM, guests can welcome Anna and Elsa to Disney’s Hollywood Studios with a short parade that travels up Hollywood Boulevard, pauses at the Sorcerer’s Hat stage for a short presentation, and then travels through Echo Lake towards Star Tours.

The parade is short, but a fun way to start your Frozen-filled day at the park

Wandering Oaken’s Trading Post

Located inside Soundstage 1 at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a Frozen superstore!

If you are looking for anything Frozen, there is no reason to shop anywhere else at Walt Disney World.

They are doing a great job of keeping everything in stock and the variety is the best of any store carrying Frozen items at Walt Disney World.

If you are looking for one of the iPhone 4/4S or 5/5S cases or the Anna, Elsa, or Olaf MagicBands (retailing at $19.95 each), this is where you will need to go.

The store is really well-themed, even down to the pine smell being pumped in. There’s even a small counter selling Frozen-themed treats.

Oaken’s Frozen Funland

Oaken’s Frozen Funland is a little bit of a frosty winter in Florida. Guests can play in the snow at the “Do You Want to Build A Snowman Playground”…

Enjoy some ice skating for 30 minutes for a fee of $10…

Purchase a Frozen treat… or even buy hot cocoa in July in Orlando…

But my favorite offering had to be the hourly ice skating show performed by two very talented professionals to some of Frozen’s more popular songs:

For The First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration

If you’ve seen the sing-along version of Frozen, get ready for a condensed version of what you have seen with fancy lighting and a few character appearances. Oh, and snow. Lots of snow. Ticketing is being done on the Streets of America and is given out for each show on a first-come, first-serve basis. The theater holds over 1000 guests and there are several shows a day, so don’t worry about running over here hours before the first show to get a ticket.

The show has two storytellers who jump in between songs to move the story along and keep the show around 30 minutes. Anna, Elsa, and Kristoff make sporadic appearances before appearing all together on stage for the finale. The moment at the end is cute and your kids will probably love the sing-along portion, but this really isn’t much. It’s better than waiting 3 hours to have your family meet the characters individually, but isn’t much of a unique offering if you saw the sing-along in theaters. It’s well-produced and a nice escape from the heat, but it isn’t anything to write home about either.

Frozen Fireworks

A second nighttime show at Studios is always a good thing, and Frozen fireworks are no exception. Preceded by a now seemingly customary dance party starting earlier in the evening, this show combines live characters on stage with pyrotechnics in the sky:

Thoughts

Frozen Summer Fun is a great offering because it adds so much more to do in a given day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Oaken’s Frozen Funland is a great way to spend an hour or so of your day ice skating, watching ice skating, playing in the snow, or just enjoying the air-conditioning and you inhale a Frozen-themed sweet treat. The sing-along will keep smaller guests entertained and out of the Florida sun, and the parade is cute and well-done for what it is. The main attractions is definitely the fireworks show, a must-see if you are visiting during the limited run. Overall, it’s always nice to get more entertainment added to a day in the park, and frankly this isn’t the best or worse seasonal event ever held at Walt Disney World. If someone in your party loves Frozen, chances are they will think this is the coolest thing ever, and that’s probably enough reason to go. You’ll certainly find at least one or two of the offerings worth the trip and chances are you were going to visit the Studios on your trip anyway. Frozen Summer Fun is a worthwhile addition, but probably not the highlight of anyone’s vacation. Oh, and don’t forget to get an Olaf on a stick to tweet about…

Frozen Summer Fun festivities will be offered daily through September 1, 2014. Fireworks will not be offered on August 23rd due to the Villains Unleashed party.
