Disney Parks Creating New “Made with Magic” Light-Up Merchandise That “Glows with the Show” at Home Via App

The long-running “Made with Magic” (or “Glow with the Show”) items at Disney Parks are getting much needed makeover to allow guests to have more fun with them at home. The light-up ear hats, bows, gloves, wands, and more have been an interesting offering at the Disney Parks over the last few years, dancing in synchronized light to nighttime spectaculars and more, but new ear hats will also work at home via the Shop Disney Parks mobile app.

At some point in the near future, a new version of the “Made with Magic ” ear hat will be released, one that can be controlled via the Shop Disney Parks app. The app will allow guests to control the color and blinking speed of the item no matter where they are, something the older items are incapable of.

As well, the Made with Magic items will “Glow at Home” during ABC’s The Wonderful World of Disney: Magical Holiday Celebration on November 30th, as well as the Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade on December 25th, 2017.

There has been no word on when these new items will debut at the parks, but it should be any day now.

Made with Magic currently works with the following entertainment offerings at Walt Disney World:

  • Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Happily Ever After fireworks show at Magic Kingdom park
  • Once Upon A Time at Magic Kingdom park
  • Rivers of Light at Disney’s Animal Kingdom park
  • Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular at Disney’s Hollywood Studios
  • Select concerts at the America Gardens Theatre in the American Adventure Pavilion at Epcot

While you don’t often see many guests wearing the Made with Magic items, here are some great videos that really show off the tech in action:

“Glow with the Show” To Become “Made With Magic”, Interactive Wands, Hats, and Gloves Coming Soon to Disney Parks

Goodbye Glow with the Show! Starting with the release of some new interactive, light-up items at Disney Parks, all Glow with the Show technology and the use of it with now be referred to as “Made with Magic”. Shows that offer Glow with the Show currently will be referred to as “Made with Magic” enabled entertainment.

“Made With Magic” items will interact just as Glow with the Show ears have with select experiences at the Disney Parks. The original Glow with the Show ear hat first introduced a few years ago will continue to be offered, but there will also be  new items including a Minnie Mouse-inspired headband, a Mickey Mouse glove, and a magical wand before the end of 2014.

The Sorcerer Mickey wand will have multiple light-up functions and will give guests the ability to change the light patterns of other newly-titled “Made With Magic” items. Guests can also place the Made With Magic items in a color-changing demo mode, when they aren’t watching or near a “Made With Magic”-enabled event.

As with the  ear hat, all Made With Magic items will interact with experiences at Disney Parks around the world regardless of where the items were originally purchased. Each item will have a retail of $25.00.

Guests should look for the Minnie Mouse headband to arrive in late October and early November in select merchandise locations at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort. The Mickey Mouse glove and the Sorcerer Mickey wand will be introduced in late November to early December at those same locations.

“Glow With The Snow” At Disneyland Park

From Shawn Slater on the Disney Parks Blog:

'Glow with the Snow' During the 'Believe ... In Holiday Magic' Fireworks at Disneyland Park with 'Glow with the Show' Ears

One of my favorite parts of the Holidays at the Disneyland Resort is wrapping up a day in the park with the“Believe … In Holiday Magic” fireworks spectacular. And this year, the Creative Entertainment team has made that show even more special by incorporating the popular “Glow with the Show” Ears. Disneyland park guests will be able to become part of the performance, with visions of sugarplums literally dancing on their heads!

Just as they’ve done with “World of Color” and “Fantasmic!”, our designers and technicians have seamlessly integrated the magical, glowing Mickey Mouse ear hats into key moments of “Believe … In Holiday Magic.” From wildly changing patterns of red and green during the “Nutcracker Suite” to a bed of newly fallen snow leaving you dreaming of a “White Christmas,” the audience gets swept up in moments both up-tempo and serene.

And here’s a pro tip: If you’ve worn your “Glow with the Show” Ears a lot or just haven’t taken them to the park in a while, you may want to change the batteries (they take 3 AAAs). Fresh batteries will help your ears pick up the signal and glow along perfectly!

“Believe … In Holiday Magic” is scheduled to be presented nightly, November 12 – January 6.

Video: Annual Passholders Glow With The Show

Last month, Annual Passholders were invited to attend an after hours event to introduce the Glow with the Show mouse ears. For the past three days, thousands of passholders were given free ears and a private showing of World of Color. DLNT Reporter Max Guggenheim was at one of these parties and got a really awesome multi-angle video of the show and the ears. Enjoy.

Fantasmic In Line For “Glow With The Show” Addition

From Shawn Slater of Disney Parks Blog:

This summer, guests at Disney California Adventure park have been surprised and delighted by the ways in which the new “Glow With the Show” Ears magically interact with everything from “World of Color” to Mad T Party and more. Reaction to the “Glow With the Show” Ears has been so positive, the team is already working to expand the magic at the Disneyland Resort.

I’m happy to tell you that you’ll soon be able to “Glow With the Show” during “Fantasmic!” at Disneyland park. Imagine experiencing this classic nighttime spectacular in a whole new way – shimmering with the lights of romance as Disney’s royal couples drift by or becoming part of a virtual sea of flames when Maleficent sets the river on fire.

You’ll be able to get glowing with “Fantasmic!” later this month – stay tuned to the Disney Parks Blog for more updates.
