Theme Park Insider has a fantastic tour of the queue with Imagineer Joe Rohde, who is basically the lead on all of the MARVEL theme park projects. The video includes both attraction pre-shows for you to enjoy, including a look at the AWESOME Rocket Raccoon audio-animatronic figure:

No video of the on-ride portion is available yet, but IGN offers a really good review of the on-ride experience and 4 of the 6 ride profiles/soundtracks:

My favorite part of all this news about the attraction today? These somewhat psychotic press photos of “guests” on the ride…

With the opening just days away, the sign and other new details of the controversial facade for Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakout were revealed yesterday at Disney California Adventure.

As you can see, the finished product of the facade has been unveiled to guests, including the marquee which will welcome them to the attraction when it opens on May 27th.

The sign is pretty ingenious in that is appears to have been first made to promote the Tivan Collection and the appearance of the trapped Guardians of the Galaxy, but Rocket Raccoon has had a little fun with it.

Letters from “First Time on Display” are ripped off, used to spell out part of the attraction’s name (kudos to whoever figured out that this would work), with “Breakout” painted over the sign.

These strange totems featuring items from the collection are also on display now outside of the attraction’s entrance.

VIDEO: Rocket Raccoon Takes Over Disneyland Resort Ads to Promote Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakout

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakout opens May 27th at Disney California Adventure and Rocket Raccoon needs you help! That must be why he’s taking over the often-heartwarming ads for the Disneyland Resort…

Rocket has also broken into the Disneyland Facebook page to make sure his message is seen. I wouldn’t be surprised if this is just the start of his antics to enlist guests to help him free his friends…

Is “Guardians Of The Galaxy: Mission Breakout” In “Thor: Ragnarok”?

 width=

Some people have really good eyes. Take a look in the photo above at the building appearing over the right shoulder of The Grandmaster, played by Jeff Goldblum, from the trailer for “Thor: Raganarok”. Could that be The Collector’s Fortress that will appear in the upcoming Disney’s California Adventure attraction, “Guardians Of The Galaxy: Mission Breakaway”? Yes it is blurry, and far away, but compare it to the concept picture (left) of The Collector’s Fortress released by Disney. Could be.

According to /Film:

A structure spotted over the shoulder of Grandmaster (Jeff Goldblum) in the Thor: Ragnarok trailer shares some similarities to that of the building being constructed in DCA. Big thanks to /Film theme park consultant Reza Lackey for pointing this out.

Is it possible that the Collector’s Fortress will make it’s MCU debut on the big screen? It’s also likely that this is just an Easter egg in the background for Disneyland fanatics like myself. I can see the similarities, but it’s a little too unclear to say for sure.

This “warehouse, fortress-like power plant” (as described by Walt Disney Imagineering Creative Executive Joe Rohde) is designed to be intimidating and imposing, but also shimmering and regal.

So just how feasible is it that The Collector would set up shop on the same planet that The Grandmaster rules over? More feasible than you think.

 width=

In Marvel Comics, both The Grandmaster and The Collector are known as an elite group called The Elders Of The Universe. The Elders consist of powerful beings who were the first humanoids to evolve in the Universe. The Elders are the last survivors of their race that have ultimately achieved the gift of immortality. Although each Elder represents a different race, they consider themselves to be brothers.

The Collector is a gatherer of precious things. The Grandmaster finds amusement through games and competition. So they both have somewhat similar hobbies taking advantage of unwilling subjects.

Lastly, just look at them. They have similar facial paint going from their lip to their chin. They both like eye shadow a lot. And it looks like they may get their hair cut at the same place.

We are going to have to wait for Marvel to officially confirm this one, but there is enough evidence out there that we may have gotten our first look at The Collector’s Fortress.

PHOTO: First Look Inside the “Gantry Lift” for Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakout Ride at California Adventure

Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission Breakout will be opening in just a few weeks at Disney California Adventure, but today, thanks to an internal leak, we are getting our first look inside the former “maintenance service elevator” of the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. The “gantry lift” appears to be just about the same, with the exception of what we assume to be a warning written in an alien language on the back wall of the vehicles:

We were unable to find the language in any internet search, but maybe someone far better versed in the MARVEL universe can decode it.
