PHOTOS, VIDEO: Sunset Seasons Greetings Holiday Show Debuts at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Tonight, during a special Annual Passholder event, Sunset Seasons Greetings at Disney’s Hollywood Studios debuted. The show consists of 4 short vignettes with Disney characters combining projections on the facade of the Tower of Terror, giant screens, and some synchronized lights in the decorations and on trees going down Sunset Boulevard.

Below, you’ll find a video showing the entire show loop through all 4 sequences featuring Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, Mickey’s Christmas Carol, The Muppets, and Toy Story (including brief appearances by characters from Prep and Landing):

REVIEW: Alcoholic Hot Cocoa Flight and Red Velvet Whoopie Pie, Fairfax Fare at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

New for the Flurry of Fun this holiday season at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is a selection of sweet treats at Fairfax Fare on Sunset Boulevard.

 width=

Guests will find three alcoholic hot chocolates for sale, in both individual servings or all together in a flight, as well as Red Velvet Whoopie Pies shaped like Christmas trees!

Hot Cocoa Flight ($11.00)

 width=

As pictured left to right, there’s a Hot Chocolate Martini made with Pinnacle Whipped Vodka, the Black Cherry Bourbon Hot Chocolate made with Jim Bean Red Stag Black Cherry, and Bailey’s Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate made with Bailey’s Irish Cream.

 width=

The martini tastes just like hot cocoa with a liquor, which is shouldn’t considering there is vodka in it. It’s fine and enjoyable, but nothing about it stands out. Meanwhile, the Black Cherry Bourbon was a bit of a disappointment. It lacked the kick you would expect from that name, and also had an almost chemical-like taste to it.

The Bailey’s Salted Caramel was outstanding however, so much so that we then bought the stand-alone version of it…

 width=

It is exactly what you would want out of it, with a strong salted-caramel and cocoa flavor is each sip, matched nicely with the accompanying Bailey’s. I would skip the flight and just get this one for $9.25.

Red Velvet Whoopie Pie – $4.99

 width=

They went a little heavy on the powdered sugar on ours…

 width=

Inside, it is basically just a red velvet cupcake with the cream cheese icing located between layers. No, this isn’t what most of the world would consider a whoopee pie, but in recent years, it is what Disney’s Hollywood Studios has come to call them. I have to say this because I was nearly ripped-to-shreds the last time I reviewed whoopie pies…

 width=

The cake was moist and the icing mixed well with it. If I wanted a cupcake, this is what I would get, but if I wanted an actual whoopee pie, I’d have to leave the park.

CONCEPT ART: Tower of Terror Becomes Hollywood Toy Hotel for Sunset Seasons Greetings at Hollywood Studios

As part of Sunset Seasons Greetings at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, debuting November 9th, guests will see the Hollywood Tower Hotel transform via projection mapping into the Hollywood Toy Hotel, according to some new concept art released by Disney.

 width=

The art shows the Tower of Terror as if it was built out of toys, just one of many scene changes the structure will make during the new holiday offering. This particular projection will tie-in to a Toy Story scene in the show.

PHOTO REPORT: Disney’s Hollywood Studios 10/25/17 (Sunset Seasons Greetings, Christmas Shopping, Toy Story Land, Star Wars, ETC.)

Our latest photo report brings u back to Disney’s Hollywood Studios as it prepares for a transitional Holiday season, offering up a new lineup that Disney hopes will fill the void left by the Osborne Lights over the last two years.

Christmas Shopping

 width=

Plenty of blown-glass ornaments for sale at Celebrity 5 & 10, including a new Monorail ornament.

 width=

 width=

 width=

 width=

They’re a little pricey at $19.99 each, but they are pretty cool.

 width=

Some new holiday apparel for sale.

 width=

 width=

 width=

 width=

A few new Beauty and the Beast ornaments have joined the existing collection this year, including this light up rose ornament.

 width=

 width=

 width=

 width=

Mickey and Minnie Mouse have both received their own action figures of sorts, exclusive to the Disney Parks. They retail for $14.99 each.

 width=

 width=

The new Mickey Mouse ear baseball cap is already out.

Sunset Seasons Greetings

 width=

As the park prepares for the new Sunset Seasons Greetings offering, a whole lot of new infrastructure is going into place on Sunset Boulevard. The old, white lights for the palm trees have been replaced with these beauties, capable of color changing for show elements.

 width=

Some extra hardware was also installed on the star lights, likely to be used to integrate them into the show.

 width=

 width=

The Fantasmic billboard is likely gone for good as a new billboard that can be projected onto will go in its place. Maybe it will return in some form down the road.

 width=

Behind the billboard hides the infrastructure for the projectors that will turn the Hollywood Tower Hotel into a number of holiday items during the shows.

 width=

 width=

 width=

 width=

The projectors sit on the stands you can see behind these windows.

 width=

People seem confused about a new Paradise Pier billboard that appeared recently at the Studios. I don’t see the confusion as both lands exist in roughly the same time period. Sadly, Paradise Pier will become PIXAR Pier, but this will be a nice nod to the past.

Dirt Street U.S.A.

 width=

Construction continues on Two Story Land, opening Summer 2018.

 width=

 width=

The remnants of the catwalk above the soundstage waits to be sealed in.

 width=

On the other side, we still have no idea what this weird, tall section of building is supposed to be.

 width=

 width=

 width=

A dirt wall now seals PIXAR Place, which eventually will be no more once Toy Story Land opens and the entrance to Toy Story Midway Mania moves there.

 width=

Just before this dirt wall will lie a cast access road, with PIXAR Place then becoming a backstage area.

 width=

 width=

The construction walls behind Muppet Vision 3-D expanded outward, now coming into the attraction’s exit.

 width=

 width=

Here we see the building for the “Battle Escape” attraction in Star War’s Galaxy’s Edge.

This and That

 width=

Sunset Showcase courtyard was open, being used for extended queue for Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster, as well as some character meet and greets.

 width=

 width=

The show building for Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster was recently repainted blue to blend into Toy Story Land better. It’s too bad it now doesn’t blend with anything on this side of the park. Why is every “soundstage” building a different color?

 width=

Work on Echo Lake continues, with the “logs” under the water now repainted.

 width=

 width=

 width=

With the Coco preview coming soon, the final room of Walt Disney Presents is pretty barren at the moment. The stickers on the walls were taken down and only on display case remains in use.
