He will also be on hand for a special appearance and signing on November 9 from 1 – 3 p.m. at D-Street in the Downtown Disney District at Disneyland, as well.

Ratatouille’s Gusteau and Ghost Chosen to Represent Food and Wine 2013

Update 8/6/13: That’s no ghost. After MC looked at the variant he realized it’s not a ghost, its Gusteau on his black and white cooking show!

That makes a lot more sense!
Also, the variant will be a LE of 250 and the original will be a LE of 2250.

8/1/13– Artist Thomas Scott has designed two Vinylmation for the 2013 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival. It will be Gusteau from Ratatouille and the Ghost of Gusteau! At an LE of 2500, they are set to release at the start of the festival on September 27 for $16.95. That is not enough to cover two figures, so we don’t believe this is a combo set. Do you have your choice? Is it blind box? Do they each have an LE of 2500 or is the ghost equal or more rare? I really like this choice and the design is done well.

Park Starz 2 Photoshoot

Park Starz is my favorite Vinylmation series. So it was exceptionally fun to take Park Starz 2 around Walt Disney World for some photos. Here is what we came up with this time.

Fantasia G8or and Hippo

We have been waiting for this one, and Thomas Scott left it for last. The famous Gator and Hippo from Fantasia are the 8th and final two piece combo in this wonderful series. It will be released at the parks and online on June 28. Like the rest of the series, it will be $24.95 and LE 2,000.

There are many ways we thought the Gator could fit on the Mickey platform, and I think Thomas did a wonderful job. The color in the ears have always given this series and added flare. This combo is no different. The Gator’s face extends down onto the body and fits on there so well. Its all about proportions to make it look right, and this is pulled off so very well. This series has and need accessories, so the cape is perfect.

The Hippo is simple and elegant. We do have two Hippos already, but this is the first normal 3″. We have the 9″ with fabric skirt and the 3″ that was the chaser from the Disney Store’s light up series. I do want to see this one in person. As much as I like it, I might have liked a lighter shade for the Hippo just to make it pop some more. I do love the purple eye lids and other highlights that really help the design.

Fantasia 6 Announced

MC just missed his prediction with Cutesters 5 being shown after the podcast, but his prediction for this week came true. Today Disney showed us Fantasia combo 6: Harpy and Demon from Night on Bald Mountain. (Careful, the Harpy might not be PG.) Thomas Scott designed this set releasing on March 15th, 2013. This (like the other Fantasia sets) will cost $24.95 and there will only be 1,500 of them. Here are some examples of what these characters looked like in the movies.

Have you gotten any of the Fantasia sets? What could be the next set?

Cutesters 5 En Vogue Explained

Disney showed off some of the new Cutesters 5 set today. We knew about the black dress one, but look at all the other options. Some weddings, some different colored dresses. This just brings up lots of questions. We know Caley Hicks was heavily involved with these from Mickey’s Circus. It also looks like Thomas Scott is a major contributor. We will also see work from Martha Widener, who is new to Vinylmation. After consideration, I remembered that at Mickey’s Circus they said this would be an eight figure set. I think these three sets below are variants, leaving 8 basic designs. This means one of the below is the chaser. We believe it is the flowers.

Caley Hicks designed this purse with a cute dog inside. The Light pink appears to be the regular version with a clear pink variant.

New to vinyl artist Martha Widener did these flower designs. This seems to be the chaser with a variant.

Then out of these two Thomas Scott figures, the yellow seems to be the regular with a blue variant.

This series will be released at both D-Streets and Online on March 29th. Each figure will be blind boxed in a tray of 16 and will sell for $12.95 each.

So far I only see I only see one really good use of the bow as not a bow (Audrey). – M.C.

I love the art style on these. They are not at all what I expected after seeing the concept art at Mickey’s Circus, but I can still appreciate the designs. It is a very old school, fashionable art style that will sure ring a bell with a certain demographic (Zoe). The animals look to be right out of a mid 1900’s Disney cartoon. Its a great use of the Cutesters line and a nice variation on the more cutesy cartoon stylize of the first few series. I think the bow is used perfectly. It only seems forced on the flowers. -Nick

It will be interesting to see where these designs go. Do we not get a “chaser” with this set? What do you think?

Artist signings are totally En Vogue

Artists Caley Hicks and Thomas Scott will be at D-Street in WDW on March 29th from 5 PM to 7 PM to sign the newly released Cutesters 5: En Vogue series, the first to use the new Minnie platform. Like we do with all signing, we suggest that you say hi and thank them for all their hard work, even if you don’t have anything for them to sign.

Which Cutesters 5 figures will you get signed?
