SPOILERS: Japanese Trailer For “Tomorrowland” Shows More Disney Attractions; Hints At Walt Disney’s Connection To The Film

A Japanese trailer for “Tomorrowland” was released and displays new footage that ties the movie to Walt Disney, Disneyland, and the 1964-65 New York World’s Fair. Unfortunately, the trailer was pulled this morning…

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fjSDLA6ygLg]

The trailer shows young Frank Walker (George Clooney’s character) discovering a secret entrance while on the ride, “it’s a small world” that apparently leads to the futuristic world of “Tomorrowland.” Two characters in this trailer reveal that Tomorrowland, found in Disneyland, is actually a cover for the real thing. They explain that geniuses like Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison and Walt Disney worked together in order to change the world and create a real “Tomorrowland.”

Here are some images that I captured from the trailer showing lots of new footage, very familiar places and some memorabilia from a very famous movie:

PHOTOS: First Look At The Upcoming Movie Tomorrowland Reveals An EPCOT Center Feel

Tomorrowland-Syd-Mead_990x533

This weeks Entertainment Weekly takes an exclusive look at the upcoming movie, Tomorrowland.  Not much has been revealed about Tomorrowland other than it stars George Clooney and is directed by Brad Bird (The Incredibles, Ratatouille) and written by Damon Lindelof (Lost). That is until now.

A Florida girl who dreams of the future while watching the launchpads of Cape Canaveral being disassembled goes exploring one day and, after landing in a bit of trouble, finds herself in possession of a mysterious pin. Touching it reveals a vision of a place that may not be a different world but simply a better one. Then it’s gone—out, out, brief candle!—and the quest to discover the real Tomorrowland begins.

The main character is Casey Newton, played by Britt Robertson, who is a girl that is fascinated by science but has become disillusioned with the closing of NASA and one day discovers a pin that opens the door that physically transports her to a world of an advanced and highly technological future. George Clooney plays Frank Walker, who is a failed inventor and has some previous history relating to Tomorrowland. The two of them must join forces to journey to a world that exists somewhere between time and space and in their collective memory.

VIDEO: Astro Orbiter Takes New Color-Scheme Out for a Spin at Magic Kingdom

ASTRO

The Astro Orbiter has been undergoing a major refurbishment over the last several weeks and is now finally starting to take its very first test spins after being completely ripped down and reassembled. With testing now in full swing, we can get a look at now only the shiny new planets and rings, but also the new teal and red color scheme on the rockets:

These new colors compliment the new color scheme we saw debut at the Peoplemover loading area a few weeks ago when that attraction returned to service.

Here’s what the Astro Orbiter looked like before:

What do you think? A positive change?

PHOTOS & VIDEO: Astro Orbiter Resumes Flights; New Color Scheme for Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom

IMG_9164

Over the last few months, there had been some speculation that the new colors adorning Rocket Tower Plaza (home to the Astro Orbiter, Tomorrowland Transit Authority Peoplemover, and the Lunching Pad) would spread beyond the center of Tomorrowland and perhaps mean a new color scheme and look for the entire Magic Kingdom realm. Well, with the re-opening of the Astro Orbiter and the Disney Vacation Club booth nearby this past weekend, it seems Tomorrowland is about to get a fresh, bright new look…

Photo & Video Sharing by SmugMug

Teal, orange, white, and lime-green make-up the new colors on the DVC booth

Astro Orbiter rockets are now predominantly blue, with beige, red, and green accents

These colors will likely extend to other buildings in Tomorrowland later, but are just in the center area for now.

The now-orange elevator shaft that lifts guests to the loading platform for Astro Orbiter

The Astro Orbiter re-opened with not only fresh paint on the rockets, but also a completely reconstructed centrifuge. With the new spinning structure, the rockets angle inward a bit more when you steer upwards, creating a sensation that you may spill out towards the center. The surrounding planets and such on the structure will no longer spin as it was decided the effect was just too unreliable over the years. Many a time, Disney would spend months working on fixing the planets, only for the effect to break a few weeks later. Regardless, we have a video of the updated attraction for you to enjoy:

So, what do you think of the new Astro Orbiter and the new Tomorrowland colors?

John Corigliano's 8/11/14 Magic Kingdom Photo Report (Peoplemover, Hub Construction, ETC.)

WDWNT Reporter John Corigliano visited the Magic Kingdom this weekend and has some newsworthy photos to share with us from his trip, so let’s take a look at what’s new:

Alright…

The Peoplemover has returned from refurbishment

Besides some new paint, not much has changed on the Peoplemover, but we still have a video ride-thru to share with you today

This side of the Astro Orbiter elevator shaft has still not been painted

Work continues on the expansion of the Hub

As you can see, an orange and red paint scheme has taken over the entrance and the center of the structure

Some of the painting hasn’t been finished yet
