PHOTO REPORT: Magic Kingdom 12/13/17 (Main Street Fountain Removal, New Merchandise, Club 33, 2018 Stuff, ETC.)

Our latest photo report brings us to the Magic Kingdom on the verge of what is expected to be one of the busiest holiday seasons in its entire history. Let’s see what’s new and exciting around the park, shall we?

Welcome to the Magic Kingdom

An advertisement for Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs 80th anniversary can be found outside of the park.

More 2018 merchandise is trickling in.

 width=

This Chip and Dale plush set with them hiding under an ear hat is just about the cutest thing I have ever seen.

SURPRISE! The sushi is already gone from the Cool Ship in Tomorrowland.

 width=

D-Tech on Demand in Tomorrowland now offers some Space Mountain phone cases you won’t find anywhere else.

 width=

They also have designs for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party.

 width=

The Dress Shop items have moved into Uptown Jewelers now, which makes marginally more sense than the House of Magic.

 width=

It hasn’t been the most pleasant week here…

Farewell Fountain

 width=

The beloved fountain near First Aid on Main Street has been removed and paved over, likely to clear a path for an exit bypass that will be used during the busy holiday weeks at the park.

 width=

I’m curious to see if it returns…

Mousecellaneous

The Mickey Mouse Ray-Bans are in stock at the Sunglass Hut in Adventureland.

To advertise the arrival, the location has a giant pair of the glasses… They wouldn’t let me try them on…

 width=

Yup, it has been cold.

Rose Gold mouse ears are plentiful in every park at the moment.

Disney on Broadway Concert Series Performer Lineup Revealed for 2018 Epcot International Festival of the Arts

For the second annual Epcot International Festival of the Arts, the collaboration with Disney Theatrical will return, bringing an exciting showcase of favorite music and Broadway talent back to the America Gardens Theatre stage. Over the six weeks of the festival, guests can enjoy different pairings of phenomenal Broadway talent in concert singing the award-winning music of Disney on Broadway.

  • Jan 12-15, 19-22: Kara Lindsay and Kevin Massay – Tarzan, Aladdin, Newsies, Frozen
  • January 26-29, February 2-5: Kissy Simmons and Alton Fitzgerald White – Tarzan, The Lion King, Aida, Aladdin, The Little Mermaid
  • February 9-12, 16-19: Ashley Brown and Josh Strickland – Beauty and the Beast, Tarzan, Mary Poppins, Newsies, Frozen

You can see performances from last year’s amazing concerts below:

CONCEPT ART: First Look at New Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, Shutters, Centertown Market, Banana Cabana Lounge, Lobby, ETC.

Hiding in the hallway to the restrooms in the Customs House, guests will now find several pieces of concept art for the reimagined Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort, a massive project scheduled to be completed by Late Summer 2018. The Old Port Royale Food Court, Shutters, Banana Cabana Pool Bar, and Calypso Trading Post at Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort all closed May 1st, 2017 to begin the project.

 width=

The board features nine pieces of concept art that we have not seen before. Sadly, Spy Glass Grille was not included.

 width=

A reimagined outdoor courtyard area should be rather pleasant to stroll around.

 width=

The new new food court, Centertown Market, will feature indoor and outdoor seating. It will take up most of the space that was the old Shutters restaurant.

 width=

The interior will be quite the departure from the old look.

 width=

The Porte Cochere and lobby are moving to Old Port Royale, with the Customs House set to be demolished once the new check-in area is complete.

 width=

It should be nice to finally have everything in one building here.

 width=

The lobby cuts through what was the Calypso Trading Post store.

 width=

Shutters is moving to an entirely new location on the waterfront which should offer fantastic views. Banana Cabana Lounge will act as the bar for the dining venue.

 width=

The interior of Shutters does leave a little to be desired as the exterior is just way more vibrant.

 width=

The interior of Banana Cabana looks pretty fun.

The reimagined Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort is set to open Late Summer 2018, with the Disney Skyliner and adjacent Disney’s Riviera Resort (also part of this project) coming online sometime after that.

To relive what Centertown Old Port Royale once was, be sure to check out our tour of the area from just before it closed:

Contemporary Resort Offering 3 New Year’s Eve Events for 2017, Including PIXAR & Princess and the Frog Parties

Reservations open July 11 for three ways to ring in the New Year at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, including the completely new PIXAR and Princess and the Frog themed events.

 width=

For an evening of dining and dancing, “Disney Countdown to Midnight” includes delightful dining, live music, libations and more. An interactive band and DJ will fill the dance floor (and we hear that Mickey and Minnie may make a special appearance). Then welcome in 2018 with a flute of bubbly and a viewing of those legendary New Year’s Eve fireworks in the Magic Kingdom. Hours are 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Fantasia Ballroom. This party is designed for guests 18 and older.

“Pixar Party: A New Year’s Eve Celebration” is for children of all ages, a family-friendly way to ring in the New Year with a Disney•Pixar-inspired dinner. Sarge welcomes you to the Ballroom of the Americas that features vignettes of beloved Pixar movies. From Andy’s Room in “Toy Story” to and Metro City with The Incredibles, the immersive celebration will include theatrical backdrops, dramatic set pieces and fun props that re-create the fantastic worlds of the Pixar films. And, of course, favorite characters will be on hand from “Toy Story,” “The Incredibles,” “Cars” and “Up.” Kids can have fun at Pixar face painting, a balloon artist and a boot camp with Sarge, while an interactive DJ will spin hits from Radio Disney (he’s going to be in a “Cars”-inspired DJ rig from Radiator Springs). Dinner is buffet style. At midnight, head outdoors to ring in the New Year with a viewing of the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Hours are 8 p.m.-12:15 a.m.

Fine dining is the theme of the third party, “Down in New Orleans: A Disney New Year’s Eve Dining Experience” in the Grand Republic Ballroom. Inspired by the Disney animated film “The Princess and the Frog,” the room is beautifully decorated French Quarter style to transport you to the Big Easy. Stations will feature flavors such as oyster beignets, smoked salmon mousse cones with caviar, Kobe beef tartare and sheep’s milk ricotta gnocchi. Signature dishes will include herb-crusted Louisiana redfish, crayfish etouffee, Balck Angus beef cooked two ways, braised short ribs and filet of beef with truffled celery root silk. A N’awlins jazz band will entertain during dinner, joined later in the evening by a vocalist who will bring to life the Academy-Award-winning classics from the film. Then slip outside with a glass of bubbly just before midnight to ring in 2018 with a private viewing area for the Magic Kingdom fireworks. Hours are 7 p.m.-12:15 a.m.

Kickstarter for Urban Vinyl Film

Evilos brought us information about a kickstarter that has been started by a indie film maker named Jordan Ahern. After watching the short video on his kickstarter page, I’m convinced we need to help this guy make his movie.

Here are the details. Jordan needs $13,660 to make his film, a documentary about Vinyl artists. At the moment we are posting this, he only needs $2,468 to make his film. The goal is to raise this money by March 13th 2013. This is a kickstarter so he needs to get his goal in order to get any of the money donated.

Now here’s the cool part, when you donate, depending on the amount, you will get gifts. The basic gifts are digital download for $15 or a DVD for $25. But check out his site. For more money you can get packages of customs that have been donated to help raise the money. These customs are crazy cool.

Jordan has a tumblr at dopevinyl.tumblr.com
The kickstarter for the movie is at http://kck.st/12GHqQn

If you don’t seem interested in donating, at least take a look at the site. It’s a good example of the custom artwork that artists are doing in the vinyl world, outside of vinylmation.

More Vinyl Collectible Mickeys

At the New York ComicCon recently, a new line Vinyl Mickey’s were shown off.

These are licensed by Disney and produced by a company called Play Imaginative and were debuted at the Singapore Toys, Games and Comics Convention in August 2011. There are 5 different styles to choose from. These new vinyl Mickey’s stand 6.5″ tall, are individually packaged in open window boxes and include a “design your own” figure.

No word on price or where to purchase these vinyl figures yet. Now, Vinylmation has been my gateway to a ton of other Disney toy collectibles that I had never seen before, but I think I’ll personally leave these alone for now. I do like the look and a couple of the styles, but would have to see a price point before possibly adding one. Let us know your thoughts on this new collectible  The first figure is called Vintage Mickey.

Next up is my favorite, Pinocchio Mickey.

The third one is called Porcelain Mickey.
