I guess you CAN’T have your cake and eat it too

The Disney Vinylmation Blog announced we are getting our Birthday Cake Vinylmation on December 10th ($44.95 LE 1000)… but it is not edible. You never know after the ice cube trays (release date: December 3). This figure looks delicious, and it looks like a Disney Design Artist stole a piece out of the back!

Something more for the Holidays?

There’s been a lot of talk this week about Holiday sets (Mostly because the Holiday 2 set is coming out on Friday) and we remembered something interesting we found in the archives over at the Disney Chat Blog. According to Todd on November 2nd, there’s a pretty good chance there will be a Chanukah Vinylmation in the next Holiday Set. Sounds cool. What other Holidays should be included? Let us know!

UPDATE 12/1/10: Less than 24 hours after posting this entry, the Vinylmation Facebook page posted pics of the Chanukah Vinylmation, confirming its existence and placement in the Holiday 3 set. Of course Holiday 2 isn’t even out yet, so be prepared to wait a year for this Vinylmation.

Quick Facts: The body is a dreidel, with the front showing the Shin side (which means you add one to the pot, oddly the worst possible outcome to a spin). Shown on the head and the right ear are gold Hanukkah gelt, which is sometimes used while playing with a dreidel. These days the gelt are gold foil covered pieces of chocolate. Also of note is that one of the gelt has a picture of a menorah, the candelabrum used during Hanukkah.

Blind Box Trading – 15

Here is a picture of that new 15 cube Vinylmation Mystery Trading Box we talked about last week. As far as I can tell, it’s only at D-Street and World of Disney at Downtown Disney. As of the first post, I wasn’t sure if it was in the parks or not. I was at Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom the past week, and they were all still using the 24 cube boxes. Also of note, are the new open trading boxes. Again, I’ve only seen these in Downtown Disney, but the new open boxes are basically open top trays that contain about 8 to 10 Vinylmation that you can choose from to trade for… as opposed to the traditional closed, see through 3 Vinylmation trade boxes. Have you seen either of these anywhere but Downtown Disney? And what do you think about the changes? Have you traded any Jr.’s yet? Let us know what you think.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Sorry it took so long to get our Thanksgiving Day post up. I was enjoying the family, food, football and Taylor Swift special. And by the time I went to take the pic, all the turkey was gone! So I snapped a pic of my late night leftover snack.

Holiday 2

Thanksgiving is almost here, so most of us are getting into the holiday mood. I bet most of you just received your Holiday 2 Snowglobe 9″ in the past couple days? I just put mine up on the bookshelf next to Prancer 9″. Remember, the Holiday 2 set of 3″ figures comes out next Friday, December 3rd (along with the Vinylmation Ice Cube Trays). Looks like this week the Disney Vinylmation Blog is releasing pictures of the figures from the set. Today they posted the 4th of July Patriot figure. Probably my favorite, being from New England. Maybe I’ll paint “Brady” and a “12” on his back?

Trade City, EPCOT

UPDATE: As of 11/23/10 at 7:30 pm The Snow Globe 9″ + 3″ set was back on the online Disney Store and available to buy!

More Tron at D-Street

36 custom hand painted 9″ Tron figures were released at D-Street in FL and CA today. Each figure has unique features and come with a $595.00 price tag. M.C. and I couldn’t find enough change to pick one up, but we did snap some pics for our fellow Vinylmation fans to enjoy. Are you going to get one? If so, let us know, destinationvinylmation@gmail.com. Send us pics of your Tron display.

TRON!

First images from d-street Florida. More to come.

Back to Christmas

For those of you who were wondering what the back of Prancer looked like, here it is.
And if you wanted some hidden Mickeys check out the holly berries on his collar!

A Little Less Mysterious

The trading Mystery Boxes at D-Street and World of Disney have reduced in size from 24 cubes to 15. (email us at destinationvinylmation@gmail.com if you can confirm the change is property wide) The smaller boxes have 3 rows of 5 numbers making them a lot easier for cast members to handle them. Although it does lower the variety at a trading station, it allows the cast member to make a smoother, quicker guest interaction. I don’t know about you, but I’ve seen many a cast member fumble with those awkward boxes. A few times even dropping the figures. I welcome the change. How about you?
