Simba’s back, and front

Coming out tomorrow is the box topper for the Animation 1 series. Here’s some pictures of the front and back. The front was just released at the Vinylmation Facebook.

I like the tail the most I think. He’s got a sad sorta face, but the whiskers are fun. I am totally going to pick up at least two of these tomorrow. (I hope the variants are included in the set that might be on the bottom of this combo.)

Tell us what you think, just leave us a comment.

A Variant Opinion… Cutesters Too

Over at Tomopop.com writer Kristina Pino has put together a quick article on the recent Cutester Too series. Check it out.

Ms. Pino has done several articles about vinylmation for Tomopop, and we’ll try to point them out as we see them.

Also check them out for news about other collectible toys.

Stormtrooper of the Week #02

It’s Wednesday again, and that means another editions of Stormtrooper of the Week here at Destination Vinylmation. This week we ran into (no pun intended) Mr. Toad. It seems that after years of poor driving, in a car that’s 62 years old, he decided that instead of installing air bags he’d just wear some armor.

Back to Jabba’s

Custom designer Evilos (@EvilosArt) has finished his latest project.

Borrowing from his previous, Mickey in Carbonite which we post about a little while ago, Evilos has made the figure inside the carbonite removable. Now not only Han Solo can go in, but Darth Vader can win and Luke Skywalker can fall for his trap. Or even Kermit the Frog.

For me, however, the most interesting part of the picture he put up was the laser gun that Boba Fett has. (Enlarged in top right of photo) That didn’t come with the original vinyl! I like it a lot.

Update: According to Evilos-

“Fetts gun is really Han’s Blaster from the
Hasbro 3 3/4″ Figures product line.”

Cool.

Beautifully done as always you can pick this piece of art up at Ebay: Vinylmation Custom Star Wars Han Solo In Carbonite ESB

More Magical Vinylmation to Celebrate WDW’s Birthday

The Disney Vinylmation Blog released some treats for us today because their Facebook account reached over 7100 likes. If you haven’t liked them on Facebook yet, do so, because the more people who do, the more stuff we find out about. And now today’s stuff:

In 1981, WDW turned 10 years old. 1981 also marked the year Disney discontinued the coupon books in favor of these 1-Day Passports into the park. Here, courtesy of AllEars.net, is a scan of an original WDW 1-Day Passport.
For more looks at some really great old WDW tickets, visit http://allears.net/tix/tickethistory.htm. Especially check out the “Cast Member and Comp Ticket” page.
I can’t wait to see how the images are represented on the 3D finished Vinylmation figure! They have been doing a lot of great things with the painting and style and quality these days. I hope they capture the old, vintage feel of the ticket with a real stamp like quality for the date and ticket number.
Also a WDW 40th piece:
This is an amazing retro look at EPCOT Center. Both Future World with the iconic ball and the World Showcase are represented here. These Thomas Scott designed figures do not have a release date yet. I’m excited about all things retro when it comes to Disney… so I can’t wait to see what comes out this year at WDW. The 6 figure 3″ open window set was a good start, and these two new 3″ figures look incredibly impressive. (According to the blog they are 3″, but the designs are so cool we hope that’s a typo.)

The Un”bear”able Lightness of “Bee”ing

On the latest Destination Vinylmation show, 010 Teacups, we discussed the upcoming Florida Project, and whether or not they would have event specific Vinylmation. We concluded that they would, and not two days later Disney announced the same thing. Here is the first piece, of which we are sure, there will be many.

The head of this Casey Jones (Nightmare Before Christmas and Haunted Mansion) figure is a Hunny pot with a cute bee flying past in the ears.

The bottom half of the figure has Pooh’s lovable head and the word Pooh written on the bottom.

No idea if this is a 9″ or a 3″.

This figure is going to be released during “The Florida Project” trade show at WDW. The show runs from September 9th thru the 11th, and is the equivalent to last year’s Trade City show. There will probably be several more vinylmation announced as releases for this show, and I’m hoping that this is part of a set!

What do you think?
