Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Moana,” which opens in theaters nationwide on Nov. 23, 2016, features a dynamic roster of characters brought to life by a talented group of actors. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, who were behind “The Little Mermaid” and “Aladdin,” “Moana” showcases the life-changing journey of a tenacious 16-year-old who teams up with the mighty demigod Maui to fulfill an ancient quest.

The newly revealed characters and voice talent join the already announced duo that includes newcomer Auli‘i Cravalho, who lends her voice to the title character, Moana, a teenager who dreams of becoming a master wayfinder, and Dwayne Johnson (HBO’s “Ballers,” “Central Intelligence”), who voices Maui—half god, half mortal, all awesome.

“Our assembled voice cast for this film is beyond our wildest dreams,” said Musker. “We are so fortunate to have this group of talented actors, many from Oceania, breathing life into their characters.”

Added Clements, “We are so thankful to have found such extraordinary people who not only capture the voices of these characters, they elevate them in every way.”

Joining Cravalho and Johnson are the following performers.

JEMAINE CLEMENT (“The BFG,” “Despicable Me,” “Rio,” “Rio 2,” “What We Do in the Shadows,” Flight of the Conchords) provides the voice of TAMATOA, a self-absorbed, 50-foot crab who lives in Lalotai, the realm of monsters. ©2016 Disney. All Rights Reserved.

Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows why.  From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auliʻi Cravalho) meets the mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity. Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess & the Frog”) and produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”),

“Moana” sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016.

Disney Is Working On A “Rocketeer” Reboot

1

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is working on a reboot to the 1991 film, “The Rocketeer” and it will be titled “The Rocketeers”.

The project, in the early development stages, is being looked at as a sequel-reboot and will be headlined by a black female character.

Walt Disney Studios is developing a reboot of the 1991 action adventure movie, hiring Max Winkler and Matt Spicer to pen the script, which is being titled The Rocketeers.

The project, in the early development stages, is considered a sequel-reboot and, in a modern-day twist, will be headlined by a black female character.

The new take keeps the story in a period setting and offers a fresh view on the characters. Set six years after the original Rocketeer and after Secord has vanished while fighting the Nazis, an unlikely new hero emerges: a young African–American female pilot, who takes up the mantle of Rocketeer in an attempt to stop an ambitious and corrupt rocket scientist from stealing jet-pack technology in what could prove to be a turning point in the Cold War.

So what do you think? Are you looking forward to a reboot to “The Rocketeer” or do you think one “Rocketeer” was enough?

Disney Infinity’s End Date Announced and Explained

Sad news Infinity fans, Disney has announced the final details regarding the end of Disney Infinity.

Unfortunately, the details are not as cut and dry as they should be. There are a ton of dates, catches, and exceptions. Starting off with the console version of Disney Infinity 3.0, support for sharing Community Content will cease on September 30.This is just the ability to share, or upload, Toy Boxes, not download them.

Effective immediately, players can no longer make in-app purchases on Disney Infinity 2.0. As a reminder, this was only a feature on non-console versions of the game. As for non-console versions of 3.0, in-app purchases can be made only on the Steam version for now.

Thinking back to September 30, it looks like all versions of Disney Infinity will be removed from mobile app stores, Apple TV, and PC. In addition to being removed from stores, the game will also become unplayable. However, the Steam versions of both 2.0 and 3.0 will remain like the console versions and still work as normal, just without the online functionality.

As mentioned before, sharing through Community Content will end on September 30, but players can still download Toy Boxes until March 3, 2017. This will be available for all players playing on consoles.

Regarding players on Apple TV and Windows 8/10, January 3, 2017 is the day that in-game purchases will be discontinued. Unlike the console versions, these versions of the game will become entirely unplayable on March 3, 2017.

IN3_Lineup_03-01

That is a lot of jumbled information, but the most important thing to note is this, March 3, 2017 is the day that Disney Infinity will shut down online functionality completely. From that point on, no more Toy Boxes will be available for download. I encourage players to get on soon and download all of their favorite Toy Boxes before it is too late (Disney Infinity 3.0 let’s you download and save up to 300 Toy Boxes).

Channing Tatum To Play The Mermaid Role In Disney’s “Splash” Remake

collagedsfsdsdf

A few months ago we reported that original “Splash” producer Brian Grazer said that a “Splash” remake was in development, but this time around there would be a twist to the story. Looks like we know what the twist is now. Channing Tatum will play the role of the mermaid, or merman, originally made famous by Daryl Hannah. Jillian Bell will be playing Tatum’s love interest, who’s character was originally played by Tom Hanks.

From Deadline:

Disney is moving full speed ahead with a re-imagining of Splash, the 1984 sleeper hit film that launched the stars of Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah, along with Imagine partners Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, the latter of whom hatched the idea for the fish wish-fulfillment story that Howard directed. They’ve got an intriguing take: It’s being developed for Channing Tatum to take role that Hannah played, with Jillian Bell in the role that Hanks played. I’m told the pitch was hatched by Bell, who worked with Tatum in 22 Jump Street, most recently wrapped Office Christmas Party and next stars in Rock That Body.

The Lion King, Aladdin, and The Jungle Book 16-Bit Games Now on PC and Mac

Remember the classic Disney games during the days of the NES, Sega Genesis, and SNES? Well thanks to GOG.com, you can now buy and play 16-bit versions of The Lion King, Aladdin, and The Jungle Book.

Screenshot 2016-08-04 12.03.23

All three games are ports of their respective Sega Genesis originals, which is great because those versions still burst with a beautiful 16-bit era art style. The games are DMR free, and available on Windows, Mac, and even Linux. Each game costs $10, or you can buy a bundle which comes with all three for $30. However, right now a launch sale is underway and you can grab each game for $9, or the bundle for $20.

All three of the games were originally developed by Virgin Interactive, with Aladdin being released in 1993, while the other two games launched later in 1994.

The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar® winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, the feather duster; six-time Tony Award® winner Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, the wardrobe; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.

PHOTOS: Cancelled Disney Infinity 12-Inch Figures Revealed

As reported by Kotaku last month, the Disney Infinity team had a lot of figures and Play Sets that were set to release this year.

Among the many plans for the game was a set of premium 12-inch figures. The list of planned characters included Elsa, Darth Vadar, Buzz Lightyear, Hulk, Hulkbuster, and Jack Skellington. The figures would have been sold at $45 a piece, lit up, and have different features that their standard figure counterparts did not.

Thanks to Twitter user Infinite Adventures, we now have concept images for both the premium Hulkbuster and Jack Skellington figures. Check them out below!

According to the Kotaku article, the premium figures would have multiple light up pieces. Just imagine how those jack-o’-lanterns would have looked glowing on a Disney Infinity base.

The Hulkbuster figure appears to have been more in the pre-planning stage, but still looks really neat. Hulkbuster would have been massive as a 12-inch figure, despite the regular Hulkbuster figure already being huge.

Although it is sad that we will never get our hands on these figures, at least we can get an idea of what they would have looked like.

PHOTOS: Cancelled Moana Disney Infinity Play Set

Once again, Kotaku has dug up more information on the cancelled Disney Infinity plans. This time, we’ve got images of the Moana Play Set.

Below are pictures of the characters in the Moana Play Set.

The Play Set looks absolutely beautiful. Judging by the photos, it seems like development was far along, and perhaps a playable build of this game existed. It is too bad that we’ll never get a chance to play it.

Shortly after the Play Set was shown off, Infiniteer Adventures scooped some photos of the actual figures themselves.

Much like the 3.0 lineup, the figures look fantastic, especially Maui who oozes detail throughout. Compared to other concept photos we’ve seen in recent weeks, these ones seem to be final renderings of the retail versions.

“Star Wars: Episode VIII” Has Finished Filming

DR

“Star Wars: Episode VIII” has completed all of it’s filming and principal photography and now all that is left is the editing process; John Williams scoring the film and finally the addition of all of the special effects from Industrial Light And Magic.

That seemed to go really fast! Other than The Millennium Falcon and some long distance shots of sets and characters, we haven’t seen much that was leaked to the press but hopefully that will change this weekend.

“Star Wars Celebration” starts this Friday, July 15th! We are definitely getting a new trailer for “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” but I’m sure we will also learn some more about “Episode VIII”. I am hoping that we might get a teaser trailer, a title for the movie, some official photos and a synopsis.

“Star Wars: Episode VIII” opens December 15th, 2017!
