PHOTOS: Disney Store Holiday Wishes Brings Holiday Cheer to Your Local Disney Store

Disney Store Holiday Wishes has returned to Disney Stores all over the country for 2016 with some changes.

img_5452

The in-store event began last week and will continue to run nightly through Christmas Eve. The show’s hours change depending on the day of the week, as well as the store location, so be sure to call your local Disney Store before going. It seems like most stores will be holding the event around 6:30 or 7:30 p.m.

The store has been decorated for the holiday season.

img_5453

Moana merchandise has its own display table

The trees are now projecting holiday-themed images. It may be hard to tell from the photos, but projected snow flakes fall on the trees as various Disney characters appear on and off.

img_5476

img_5474

The back of the store, where the theater screen is located, is where Holiday Wishes takes place. Cast members invite guests over to the screen for a chance to take part in the celebration.

img_5455

img_5456

While the audience waits for the show to begin, the cast members pass out Christmas ornament shaped post-it notes. The guests are asked to write a holiday wish on their ornaments and then hold on to them until Mickey provides further instructions.

img_5457

img_5467

Maybe one day this wish will come true…

When the countdown on the screen reaches zero, Mickey and Minnie take the stage (screen).

img_5459

It’s Mickey’s house!

img_5462

This part is pretty fun, as the kids started to get really excited to interact with Mickey and Minnie. The cast member converses with the two on the screen, and the exchange is pretty neat, provided the cast member has the script memorized.

Mickey asks the guests to cheer and stomp to help make Minnie’s star shine. After about a minute of continuos noise, Minnie’s star begins to glow.

img_5466

This is where the experience was a little broken for us. The star on top of the christmas tree that stands to the left of the screen is supposed to shine at this point, however, this tree wasn’t cooperating.

Mickey then asks the audience to “hang” their ornaments on the tree to make their wishes come true.

img_5469

The tree topper that doesn’t glow

From there the show ends. Mickey and Minnie wave goodbye and a song called “My Little Wish” plays in the background, while fireworks go off on screen.

img_5472

While Disney Store Holiday Wishes doesn’t come close to some of the holiday entertainment offerings found in the parks, it’s certainly nice to have this show available for those that are unnamable to make the trip. The show requires a lot of audience participation, so what you put in is what you’ll get out. Though, if you have kids, it’s well worth a visit.

The Stars Of “Rogue One” Team Up To Help Support A “Force 4 Fashion”

14

Continuing with the trend that was started by JJ Abrams and the crew from “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” with “A Force For Change”, the cast of “Rogue One”, along with stars from music, film fashion and sports are joining together to make a difference by supporting a “Force 4 Fashion”. Check out some of the t-shirts that will be available for purchase on November 27th:

As fans count down to the premiere of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Disney, Target and Star Wars: Force for Change are launching a new fashion-meets-fundraising initiative inspired by the themes of rebellion from the new movie. Ten influential names across film, music, fashion and sports have come together to support UNICEF Kid Power by creating a line of “Force 4 Fashion” T-shirts available exclusively in the U.S. at Target beginning November 27.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story will introduce fans to a group of rebels who choose to do extraordinary things, and in doing so, become part of something greater than themselves. Each of the T-shirt designs celebrates this theme using a powerful slogan to represent the importance of standing up for what you believe in.

Five dollars from the sale of each shirt will be donated to the U.S. Fund for UNICEF in support of UNICEF Kid Power. Through this unique initiative, kids can complete physical activities and interactive challenges to earn points—which ultimately are used to provide life-saving packets of food for severely malnourished children around the world. The more kids move, the more points they earn, the more kids they help.

“This campaign is about raising funds and awareness for UNICEF Kid Power’s mission to improve the lives of children everywhere,” said Paul Southern, senior vice president of licensing for Lucasfilm at Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media. “Everyone connected to this initiative has been a Force for Change in different ways, and we hope their stories will inspire others to get involved.”

The Force 4 Fashion line was designed with support from Riz Ahmed, June Ambrose, Steve Aoki, Camilla Belle, Gareth Edwards, Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Olivia Munn, Kelly Slater, and Brittany Snow, who’ve all been active in supporting different causes through their careers. In addition to purchasing the special T-shirts, fans can join the rebellion by sharing their own inspiring stories and posting on social channels how they are a #ForceForChange on “Giving Tuesday,” November 29.

“I love Star Wars and I’m passionate about giving back,” said Steve Aoki. “The opportunity to partner with Lucasfilm and Target to design a shirt that benefits UNICEF is something I’ve enjoyed being a part of and I hope my fans love it as much as I do.”

“Investing in our children means a brighter future for all, and this holiday season, the U.S. Fund for UNICEF is thrilled Star Wars: Force for Change and this “Force 4 Fashion” initiative are supporting UNICEF Kid Power,” said Caryl M. Stern, President & CEO of the U.S. Fund for UNICEF. “UNICEF Kid Power helps us to stand and give every child hope. With every step, kids get active and save lives, moving the world closer towards ending global malnutrition.”

Since the UNICEF Kid Power program launch in 2014, more than 190,000 UNICEF Kid Power Team Members have become active, earning more than 12.5 million Kid Power Points and unlocking more than 5.1 million packets of lifesaving therapeutic food for severely malnourished children. Star Wars: Force for Change announced its collaboration with UNICEF Kid Power in May 2015 and continues to be a presenting sponsor of the initiative program.

Set to release sometime in early 2017, the new collection will feature shoes themed after some iconic classic Disney attractions, including The Haunted Mansion, Mad Tea Party, Space Mountain, and Toy Story Mania. This is the first time the line of shoes has been themed to attractions, rather than characters.

Take a look at the various shoes below.

The runDisney shoes will come in either the New Balance 880 style, or the Vazee Pace style, both of which are traditional running shoes with no added support.

The shoes will be available for purchase exclusively at runDisney Half or Full Marathon Expos.
