Whole New Perfomers

According to the OC Register, Disney is looking for new performers in the Aladdin stage show at DCA. This Wednesday there will be an auditon at 2pm, as listed on the Disney Auditions website. Similar auditions will be held in New York City on July 29th.

Again, as previously reported, the Hyperion Theater will be closed from September 2nd through early December for “rehabilitation & system upgrades”. Aladdin will then return in time for Christmas!

Let The Good Times Roll!

Construction is about to begin at Disney’s California Adventure, according to Blue Sky Disney. Come this August, construction walls will be up all through-out Paradise Pier & other area of the park will follow.

Also while construction is underway in Paradise Pier, the parade route will be shortened & will only run from Sunshine Plaza to the gate in between the Mission Tortilla Factory & the Bountiful Valley Farmers Market.

Weekend Round-Up

It’s been a news filled past few days, & there’s been a few things that we haven’t reported, as well as some updates, that were covered in this week’s Monday in the Parks update on MiceAge. Let’s take a look through some of the news pieces brought up:

  • After going missing for a second time in a year, the Goat in Big Thunder Mountain Railroad has returned.
  • We here at Disneyland News Today reported earlier this week on the closing of the Vineyard Room at Disney’s California Adventure on August 31st. Well apparently, for the last few years, the restaurant has only been opening on weekends, & it seems that these last few weekends that it’s supposed to be opened… Well basically, it won’t be. Again, it’s not confirmed, but highly likely.
  • Last Friday, both the Green Army Men stand before the security check & the Honda Pilot display in the Esplanade were removed, & everything is back to normal in that general area.
  • Also, the All-American College Band had its last performance at Disneyland last Friday, due to the performers heading back to school.
  • The Magic Morning early entry to Disneyland Park for Disneyland Resort Hotel guests that is usually offered on Sundays, will not be offered Sunday August 31st due to the Disneyland Half Marathon. It will instead be offered Saturday August 30th.

And now a couple of pieces of news in pictures:

As we reported earlier this week, the Grand Marshall Pre-Parade to Walt Disney’s Parade of Dreams no longer features the dancers, characters, or the Year of a Million Dreams banner at the beginning

Yesterday at 5:45pm, Ariel made her final ever exit from Ariel’s Grotto

New Bread ODV Cart in DCA

There is now a new ODV cart selling Boudin Bakery bread (obviously from the Bakery Tour in Pacific Wharf) under the Golden Gate Bridge in DCA. This is something I noticed on my last visit, but I forgot to take a picture of it. MouseTimes however did:

Be sure to check out the latest DLR Pictorial on MouseTimes for more coverage from through-out the Disneyland Resort, including the festivities for the 53rd anniversary!

Makes You Wish The Electrical Parade Was Goin’ By

Our sister site, WDW News Today, reported the following news about the High School Musical 2: School’s Out show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios:

The popular High School Musical 2: School’s Out roaming stage show at Disney’s Hollywood Studios is now scheduled to make its final performance at the park on September 13, 2008. However, don’t get too happy if you’re not a fan of the Disney Channel’s mega-hit movie series. On October 24, just around the time the new film in the series is released in theaters everywhere, a new roaming stage show themed to High School Musical 3: Senior Year will be hitting the streets at Hollywood Studios. Stay tuned for more details on the new show as they become available.

With this news, we can expect a High School Musical 3 version of the roaming stage show at Disney’s California Adventure sometime this fall. Although no concrete details have been leaked about the DCA version yet.

Stay tuned to Disneyland News Today for up to date information on the High School Musical show.

Is Disney’s Aladdin Leaving?

From the OC Register:

Is Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular closed after July 21st?

The question above was asked on a MiceChat discussion board by someone identified as “moncho.” He said that he checked the Disneyland calendar and that the show is not scheduled after July 20.

Disney Spokesman John McClintock said the Disney’s California Adventure show will be closed between late September and early December. McClintock said the show will be down for rehabilitation and system upgrades. The show will then reopen in early December, McClintock said.

DCA Expansion Rumors

Here’s a couple of rumors on the DCA expansion from Screamscape:

2011 – Walt Disney Plaza – Confirmed – (7/8/08) We’ve heard a bit more about the Walt Disney Plaza area, confirming that the Carthay Theater building will simply be an empty shell for the time being. However we have heard that the upstairs section may be used as another exclusive Club 33 style VIP Room. It was also mentioned that there may be some kind of Disneyland fireworks viewing area from here as well. We’ve also got a little more information about Hollywood Land, the new name likely to be used for the Hollywood Pictures Backlot. When the renovations are complete this area of the park is supposed to hold the majority of the track for the new Red Car Line trolley system, running guests from here to the new main gate area. The cars are said to hold only about 20 people each.

2012 – Cars Land – (7/8/08) We’ve got some new rumored details about the whole Cars Land area of the park, though keep in mind that as the last of the big projects set to go in, lots of changes can still be made before it opens. From what info is being leaked right now, there is a plan to make Flo’s V8 Café a functional quick service restaurant for the land and Fillmore’s Organic Fuels will likely end up being a drink and smoothie stand. While not much else has come to the front about the main Radiator Springs Racers ride, we did hear that Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree may be themed to fit the whole tractor tipping theme, so I’ve got to wonder if Frank will be involved somehow. I’m also not certain exactly what kind of ride this will be as some believe it will be another spinning flat ride while others thing it could be some kind of custom track ride.

2009/2010 – Goofy’s Sky School – In Development – (7/7/08) According to another source Disney will use the Goofy’s Sky School name and not “Flite School” as we had heard last week.

Sting or Swing? Drive or Fly?

Screamscape has some details on the re-do’s of both Mullholand Madness & Orange Stinger:

2009/2010 – Silly Symphony Swings – In Development – (7/4/08) We’ve got a little more information to share today about the new Silly Symphony Swings restoration plans. According to our sources the remodeled attraction will have a Band Conductor Mickey on top of the tower who will move around to the music. The top will be remodeled to be more like a carousel to allow for the placement of scenes from the Silly Symphonies on the inside of each section.

2009/2010 – Goofy’s Flite School – In Development – (7/4/08) We’ve heard that plans for Goofy’s Flite School are moving forward, and yes that is the correct spelling. From the sound of things it may take on a similar look to Goofy’s Barnstormer in Florida as it will now look like an old giant barn has been converted by Goofy into a make-shift airplane hanger… while apparently leaving all the old chicken coops intact.
