The newest Ghirardelli® Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop will join with Disney’s The El Capitan Theatre and the Disney Studio Store on Hollywood Boulevard, and the Grand Opening will be November 15, 2013!
Ghirardelli Chocolate Company is considered America’s oldest operating chocolate manufacturer and this will be the first location in Los Angeles, giving locals, fans and moviegoers an opportunity to experience Ghirardelli’s world-famous and delicious floats, shakes, hot fudge sundaes, and their exciting assortment of chocolates and beautifully wrapped gifts. Each guest will also enjoy a complimentary sample of the signature Ghirardelli SQUARES® chocolate. The Ghirardelli Soda Fountain and Chocolate Shop and Disney Studio Store will be located next to the legendary El Capitan Theatre at 6838 Hollywood Boulevard, and will be open seven days a week. This location will replace Disney’s Soda Fountain & Studio Store currently in that location.
“Ghirardelli Chocolate is honored to join Disney on Hollywood Boulevard to bring visitors and moviegoers an unforgettable experience. We have been bringing quality chocolate to the public for over 160 years, and this iconic location in the heart of Hollywood is the perfect place to continue the tradition.”
~ Marty Thompson, President and CEO of the Ghirardelli® Chocolate Company
Ghirardelli Chocolate and Disney have teamed up for the Grand Opening Celebration, by offering a specially created sundae treat for the opening of Walt Disney Animation Studios’ new animated movie “Frozen” this November. Original and speciality ice cream sundaes will be available to complement future film releases at The El Capitan Theatre, thereby providing moviegoers with an ongoing unique Ghirardelli experience. The new soda fountain and chocolate shop will join the existing Disney Studio Store which offers an assortment of merchandise from current film releases playing at The El Capitan Theatre, along with classic Disney character souvenirs, highly sought after collectible pins, and a large selection of Blu-Ray and DVD home entertainment.
Says Lylle Breier, senior vice president, Worldwide Special Events for Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures:
“The El Capitan Theatre has always been about giving guests the ultimate entertainment experience. And now, with Ghirardelli, an extraordinary experience becomes even more unforgettable. Families and movie lovers from all over can come to the El Capitan, see a great Disney movie, and enjoy a memorable, delicious after-movie treat. We’re thrilled to welcome Ghirardelli Chocolate to Hollywood. Ghirardelli chocolate and a Disney movie at the El Cap: How sweet it is!”

Vinylmation Kingdom, who posted box photos last week, has now posted photos of the actual Midieval Vinylmation Series. This series is rumored to be released at Disney Stores and online on September 16.
As interesting as molded accessory pieces such as this dragon’s spikes and tails are, they take us way too far away from Disney Vinylmation. Again, great artwork by the Disney Store artists, but just let them make the themed action figures they seem to want to make. The production quality is just never there with the Disney Store product either. I am all on board with Disney appealing to a wide range of audiences and I know that not ever series is for every fan. I am a big proponent of just collecting what you like. But when the product is constantly brought in this direction, it really waters down the hobby’s trade market and the respectability of the Disney Vinylmation name.
Update 09/03/13 Photo of flyer posted.
The Stockton St. Disney Store in San Francisco has announced an artist signing event with Enrique Pita on Saturday, September 14 from 8am – 10am. There are no pictures yet, but they are calling it the “Green Trolley Vinylmation” and specified that there will be “limited quantities available.” Here is a photo of the flyer that we found on Vinylmation Exchange.
There was a previous SF Trolley designed by Dan Beltran that was red and produced on the original Mickey platform.
The Jungle Book blind box series of 7 figures and 1 Mystery Chaser will be released sometime in 2014 by the Disney store. The set includes Bagheera, Baloo, Colonel Hathi’s child, King Louie, Mowgli, Shere Kahn and 4 Jr. Vultures in one blind box! This is a beautiful looking set. I love the dancing Baloo so as to be different from the DDG Animation version. A hypnotized Bagheera with Kaa in his ear is brilliant. Oh, and check out Louies arms. It’s a new style.
An 18 figure Aladdin Junior series designed by the Disney Store will be released in 2014.
They did a great job giving us variations on the characters. Also, artwork on juniors is amazing these days.

Ep. 124 Norway Troll This week we talk in depth about the Marvel and Little Mermaid Vinylmation series. We also discus some recent releases around the parks and Disney Stores and news about the Park Starz 2 Variants. We also review Park 12. |
Disney Store artist Enrique Pita has been a bastion for DS Vinylmation release info since the flow of updates slowed from the company itself. Recently, he Instagramed three new junior key chains he created specifically for the NYC Times Square Disney Store.
The three figures are sold individually. There is NYC Cab Driver Goofy, NYC Policeman Mickey and NYC Fireman Donald! Wow, what amazing detail on these 1.5 inch canvases. They are getting better and better. To actually convey emotion on the faces of these is incredible to me. Here is a photo via Vinylmation Kingdom of each of the figures in the packaging.
Looks like a photo has leaked of the upcoming Agent P Mission Marvel figure that will be released at Disney Stores on June 24. That date is still rumor, as not confirmed by Disney, but is reported from many Disney Stores. Vinylmation Kingdom was sent and posted this photo:
I love it! Agent P is in his superhero costume and has a “P” on his belt. No hat for Agent P, but by the piece seen between the head and body, he does have a cape attached. The episode, a crossover between Phineas and Ferb and Marvel, is set to air this summer.
