Nursery Rhyme Vinylmation Explained

Nursery Rhyme Series
$9.95 Each
Release Date: 9/24/12

This is a set of 12 blind box figures and is a Disney Store product.

Humpty Dumpty
Starlight Star Bright
Little Bo Peep
Little Miss Moffet

I’m not sure how her curds and way just float there on her stomach?

Little Boy Blue

Another great accessory!

Hickory Dickory Dock
Cat and the Fiddle

Look at that bow! Awesome. I need one of those.

Mother Goose
Three Little Pigs

Is this better then the individual ones that came with the Big Bad Wolf? I don’t think it is.

Old Women Who Lived In A Shoe

I’m not sure why her children are falling. (Unless that’s Jack and Jill)

Three Blind Mice

Brilliant change here. Three jrs instead of a 3″ figure in the blind box. Very cool out of the box thinking!

Chaser

(Click to reveal)
I really like the accessory.

2013 Poster Series Explained
Monthly Release during 2013 with a special 13th figure released TBA
Price: $14.95 each
Disney has done it. They have made dated merchandise cool. The idea behind these figures is very innovative. They had 13 different artists design a poster using the common themes of “Believe in Magic”, 13, and a sorcerer’s hat. They then adapted the artwork across multiple merchandise lines. In addition to vinyl, there will be pins, D-Tech, shirts and prints. Every month, a different design will be released and an artist signing will be held. All Vinyls will have an LE of 2013. The 13th design will be online only. The order of release has not yet been announced. Here is a look at the posters and merchandise:

Mechanical Kingdom Explained

Mechanical Kingdom Explained
Release Date: October 5 at D-Streets and Online
Price: $12.95
Details: This is a 7 figure open window set. It is based on a 2010 pin series of the same name. The vinyls, as well as the previous pin series, were designed by Mike Sullivan. All will be at D-Street except Ludwig Von Drake who will be an Online Exclusive.

I am so glad they are finally giving us this series! There was a whole pin series based on this concept of Disney Characters as Steam Punk and I half expected that first Steam Punk boxed set to be this.

Mickey Mouse

Decked out in hat and gloves.

Donald Duck

He dons his cap and is ready for adventure.

Pete

He appears to have his over sized face well drawn onto the canvas. His sword looks epic as well.

Goofy

Ludwig Von Drake
ONLINE EXCLUSIVE

Brilliant addition to the world of Vinylmation! It’s about time.

Minnie Mouse

Daisy

Looks like one of the more detailed faces in the set.

Urban 9 Explained

Urban 9
Release Date: April 20th (Disney Stores), May 11 (D-Streets)
Price: $9.95
Details: 11 known figures and 1 mystery chaser, 2 variants, 1 combo topper

Update: 5/10/12 Tomorrow this series will come out in D-Street stores. The combo pack will also be available tomorrow.

Fly

Quick call Jeff Goldblum, there’s a fly about. Kinda freaky but still cool, I like the eyes. Great use of clear ears too.

Snake

A detailed snake with a Hidden Mickey painted onto a red background. Looks kinda like a California King Snake, but the marking seem just a little off.

Western Gangster

Absolutely LOVE the cowboy hat. Looking good with the handkerchief over the face. I hope this one has a lot of grit and detail to it in person.

Red Dragon

A little plain for my taste. Also reminiscent of the Chinese Zodiac set. Here is a description from Penguin: “Chinese Guardian Lion or better known but incorrectly as a Foo Dog (some sort of lion like creature, of oriental style) perhaps Chi Lin?”

Pic from themagickitschdom.com

Power Up

Great idea with the power symbol in the body and the circuit design in the head. I hope in person the symbol has a glow to it and the back must be more detailed with cool surprises and maybe Disney related patterns.

Lagoon Monster

Perfect scary face. I want to see a cool tail, but he already has the claws for hands.

Maori Businessman

Thanks to Penguin for the title and everyone for the “Maori” description. That is what this appears to be. I so love the mash up between the tattooed face and the business suit here. It’s so odd, I like it like I like Pink Zombie Bunny.

Elephant Kid

What? I can’t wait to really find out what this is and have an artist’s explanation. It appears to be a kid in an elephant costume with (Mickey Ear Hat-like) Elephant hat with trunk and ears.

Chandelier

The design fits well onto the mold, but at least in concept art, I’m not sure if I can be into this one.

Sheep
Artist: Maria Clapsis

Since Cutesters became themed, designs like this enter the Urban realm. I really like this design. The little tufts of cotton and the horns in the ears are drawn very well.

Pic from Vinylmation Exchange

Toaster
Artist: TBA

An extremely simple but very  cool design. The toast popping through the clear ears is just plain brilliant use of canvas. I also like the Vinylmation logo at the bottom.

Mystery Chaser
Artist: Thomas Scott

So Tasty Explained

So Tasty!

Release Date: June 4, 2012 (Disney Stores) and June 8, 2012 (D-Streets)

Where: Disney Stores and D-Streets

Price: $11.95

Details: Each 3″ figure is scented relating to its name and design.

Update 6/2/12 Root Beer Float and Grape Soda Added.

Update 5/29/12 In addition to Disney Stores on June 4, So Tasty will also release at D-Streets on June 8.

Update 5/25/12 The Vinylmation blog teased us with a few looks at the So Tasty line. I’m really starting to like the unique characterization of each.

Bacon Cheeseburger

What exactly will this smell like?

Frozen Lemonade

Ooooh so sour!

Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream Cone

So tasty! Oh hey, I just got the name! lol

Popcorn

I hope this smells of butter. And lots of it!

Root Beer Float

Clear brown body to show off a yummy mug of ice cold soda. Then the head is a scoop of ice cream billowing over the cup. All topped off with a straw in the ear.

Grape Soda

A purple cup of Grape Soda pop. You can see the bubbles in the head with the straw and Ferris Wheel in the ear.

4/21/12 – The DV Staff gives initial opinions on this series… before product shots are shown:

Nick: They are targeted toward a specific audience for sure, kids and female. I’d have to say the initial designs are not as cute as say some Cutesters or many of the “cutesy” designs by say Maria Clapsis. Elements of the popcorn design are very cool however. The “disco” hair accessory to represent bubbling popcorn and the Ferris Wheels in the ears to represent fair grounds. The scent idea is cool. (how are those Jingle Smells scents holding up by the way to those who bought them?) I think they will sell well, especially as open window (if they are).

Annemarie: I think these are really cute, and it’s a good idea, but I don’t think I’ll be purchasing them; I usually like to stick to Disney-related stuff, it has to really blow me away for me to branch out from that. I like the designs though, the detail and expressions keep getting better and better in these. If this is an open-box series and there’s a food item I particularly enjoy, I may pick one up. A blind box series? I’ll pass.

Zoe: After seeing the so tasty Vinylmation preview, I think they look super cute! I love the idea that they will smell, like how jingle smells were. I hope the scents smell good. Also I love the use of the popcorn on top of the head, looks almost like Goofy’s afro. I love the details on these and think they will do great in the stores! The mint chip ice cream is cute, and it’s my favorite kind of ice cream so I will definitely need that one! I can’t wait to see how the rest turn out! 🙂

Park 10 Explained

Park 10 Explained
Release Date: July 11, 2012 at Disneyland Paris (no US release date yet)
Price:
Details: Park 10 is dedicated to all Disneyland Paris designs.

Update 7/26/12 Park 10 will be available at the Orlando and Anaheim D-Streets on August 3.
Update 7/19/12 Updated with HQ photos from @DLPWonderful.
Update 7/9/12 July 11 is the rumored released date for Park 10 at Disneyland Paris. No announcement of a US release date. This date comes 2 days before the US release of Park 9. @VM_Paris just put out this tweet: “Release date for #Vniylmation Park 10 is july 11th for #disneylandparis”

Big Thunder Mountain RailroadLike the Magic Kingdom train in Park 9, this version has a smoke stack on top of the head.

Aladdin’s Enchanted Passage

A really cool look to this one with Aladdin’s shadow at the bottom and the colorful stars in the ears.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of PerilA thrill ride in Adventureland at Disneyland Paris, this coaster takes guests on a journey through the world of Indiana Jones. The figure has a nice look to it with snakes in the ears.

Phantom Manor MayorThanks to my friend Adam over at DisneyBrit.com for confirming this one. This guy is found inside the Disneyland Paris equivalent to the Haunted Mansion and removes his head as guests pass by. Can anyone confirm the internet rumor I found that his head is or is modeled after Dreamfinder from Journey Into Imagination? It does resemble him.

OrbitronThere are many rides like this throughout the various Tommorowland’s at the Disney parks. It is a high flying orbiting attraction similar to WDW’s Astro Orbiter.

Tower of TerrorOpened in 2007, Paris’s La Tour de la Terreur is located in the Walt Disney Studios Park.  It is nearly identical to the TOT building at Disney’s California Adventure, except for minor differences in interior room locations and the Paris version is a half meter taller. At 183 feet, it is the second tallest attraction at DLP (Big Thunder Mountain is 197 feet). The figure itself is a more literal interpretation of the Tower of Terror than we have seen in the past.

Toy Soldiers Parachute DropOne of the newer rides in Paris it is located in the Walt Disney Studios Park. The design is just a perfect fit with the parachute taking up Mickey’s head, then the base of the ride taking up the body.

Moteurs… Action Stunt Show SpectacularLocated in Walt Disney Studios Park, this was the original, before it was brought to Orlando’s DHS. This is a brilliant use of mold here. Putting the car on the head like it is jumping the flames below… simply perfect.

It’s a Small WorldA colorful representation of an attraction seen in all the Disney parks, the artist chooses the sun as the focal point with some of the flags and shrubbery. More of a representation than a part of the ride.

Skull RockThis cave can be found in the Adventure Isle part of Adventureland. Guests can venture inside and look out through the giant eyes. The artist did a great job of representing both the rock skull and the water below.

Swiss Family Tree HouseLa Cabane des Robinson looms high over the Disneyland Paris park, and this colorful looking figure seems to take it’s design cues from concept art such as this sign. It is a more idealistic look at the tree house than any real picture of it I can find.
