Menken and Miranda are working on the live action version of The Little Mermaid for Disney
“Hamilton’s” Lin-Manual Miranda is joining forces with legendary Disney composer Alan Menken to compose additional songs for an upcoming live action version of the Disney animated classic, “The Little Mermaid”.
From Deadline:
Disney is pairing Hamilton‘s Lin-Manuel Miranda with iconic songwriter Alan Menken for a live action feature adaptation of Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Mermaid. Miranda and Menken will write the music together. Marc Platt will produce the film along with Miranda, in a configuration just set by Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production. Deadline revealed in May that Disney was figuring out a way to add the classic title to a slate of films based on the studio’s animated films. This one is being orchestrated as a mix of pre-existing songs from the 1989 Disney animated classic movie, for which Menken won two Oscars, sharing Best Song with Howard Ashman, and winning Best Score on his own. Menken has eight Oscars in his storied career.

During EA’s livestream at GamesCom, it was announced that the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront VR mission will be getting a bit of a Rogue One facelift.

Star Wars Battlefront VR
The experience will now be called Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-Wing VR Mission. Short and sweet, right? James Svensson, producer at Criterion Games, went on to discuss the new changes, “Rogue One is in the same time period the base game covers, so to be relevant in the ever-evolving Star Wars universe we’ve since been able to work with Lucasfilm to make the connection here.”
The VR mission will put players in the cockpit of a X-Wing as they take on TIE fighters and a Star Destroyer. The Rogue One theming will be quite fitting since the game already takes place during the events of the originally trilogy.
For those that do not remember, the VR mission is an expansion coming to the PS4 version of Star Wars Battlefront and can only be used with the PlayStation VR headset. The VR experience is expected to launch sometime this Holiday season, while PlayStation VR will release on October 13.

Kurt Russell will be playing Peter Quill’s (Starlord) father in “Guardians Of The Galaxy, Volume 2”. That part is not too surprising. The suprising part is that he will play Ego The Living Planet.

According to Marvel:
Ego the Living Planet originated like any other planet, coalescing over millions of years from cosmic gases and dust. But unlike any other known planets, Ego developed consciousness and intelligence.

It’s really hard to describe this guy and dont know how they are going to have Kurt Russell playing the character but have a feeling that Ego will take a human form to relate with Starlord. The picture above shows a photo of Kurt Russell’s costume for Ego.
“Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol 2” opens May 5, 2017.

Slowly but surely we are getting glimpses of what Hulk’s role with be in “Thor Ragnarok” and it definitely has something to do with the classic “Planet Hulk” storyline. I doubt it will be a faithful adaption but maybe we learn that after the events of “Avengers: Age Of Ultron”, Hulk was taken to another plannet, where he became a warrior and a king. Or it could just be a nod to “Planet Hulk”, which is more likely. Still has me excited to see Thor and Hulk battling together or who knows maybe battling against each other.
“Thor Ragnarok” opens November 3, 2017.

Fans at Comic Con were the first to see this beautiful 13 foot statue of Captain America, which was commissioned by Marvel to celebrate Cap’s 75th Anniversary. Cap never looked so good. Now that Comic Con is over, the statue will make a few more stops for display before settling in his permanent home of Sunset Park, Brooklyn on August 10th.

Believe it or not but there is less than year before we see Spider-Man back on the big screen with the first solo Spidey MCU movie, “Spider-Man: Homecoming”. Until then we got our first look at some concept art showing Spider-Man in action against his nemesis, The Vulture. We still are not sure who Michael Keaton will be playing in “Homecoming” but the odds are pretty high you are looking at him in the above promotional art.
“Spider-Man: Homecoming” opens July 7, 2017.

Walt Disney Animation Studios’ “Moana,” which opens in theaters nationwide on Nov. 23, 2016, features a dynamic roster of characters brought to life by a talented group of actors. Directed by Ron Clements and John Musker, who were behind “The Little Mermaid” and “Aladdin,” “Moana” showcases the life-changing journey of a tenacious 16-year-old who teams up with the mighty demigod Maui to fulfill an ancient quest.

The newly revealed characters and voice talent join the already announced duo that includes newcomer Auli‘i Cravalho, who lends her voice to the title character, Moana, a teenager who dreams of becoming a master wayfinder, and Dwayne Johnson (HBO’s “Ballers,” “Central Intelligence”), who voices Maui—half god, half mortal, all awesome.
“Our assembled voice cast for this film is beyond our wildest dreams,” said Musker. “We are so fortunate to have this group of talented actors, many from Oceania, breathing life into their characters.”
Added Clements, “We are so thankful to have found such extraordinary people who not only capture the voices of these characters, they elevate them in every way.”
Joining Cravalho and Johnson are the following performers.

The roster of characters also includes the KAKAMORA, an intense team of crazy, coconut-armored pirates who will stop at nothing to get what they want, and PUA, Moana’s loyal pet pig with puppy energy and an innocent puppy brain.
Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows why. From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auliʻi Cravalho) meets the mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity. Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess & the Frog”) and produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”),
“Moana” sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is working on a reboot to the 1991 film, “The Rocketeer” and it will be titled “The Rocketeers”.
The project, in the early development stages, is being looked at as a sequel-reboot and will be headlined by a black female character.
Walt Disney Studios is developing a reboot of the 1991 action adventure movie, hiring Max Winkler and Matt Spicer to pen the script, which is being titled The Rocketeers.
The project, in the early development stages, is considered a sequel-reboot and, in a modern-day twist, will be headlined by a black female character.
The new take keeps the story in a period setting and offers a fresh view on the characters. Set six years after the original Rocketeer and after Secord has vanished while fighting the Nazis, an unlikely new hero emerges: a young African–American female pilot, who takes up the mantle of Rocketeer in an attempt to stop an ambitious and corrupt rocket scientist from stealing jet-pack technology in what could prove to be a turning point in the Cold War.
So what do you think? Are you looking forward to a reboot to “The Rocketeer” or do you think one “Rocketeer” was enough?

A few months ago we reported that original “Splash” producer Brian Grazer said that a “Splash” remake was in development, but this time around there would be a twist to the story. Looks like we know what the twist is now. Channing Tatum will play the role of the mermaid, or merman, originally made famous by Daryl Hannah. Jillian Bell will be playing Tatum’s love interest, who’s character was originally played by Tom Hanks.
From Deadline:
Disney is moving full speed ahead with a re-imagining of Splash, the 1984 sleeper hit film that launched the stars of Tom Hanks and Daryl Hannah, along with Imagine partners Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, the latter of whom hatched the idea for the fish wish-fulfillment story that Howard directed. They’ve got an intriguing take: It’s being developed for Channing Tatum to take role that Hannah played, with Jillian Bell in the role that Hanks played. I’m told the pitch was hatched by Bell, who worked with Tatum in 22 Jump Street, most recently wrapped Office Christmas Party and next stars in Rock That Body.
