New Disneyland Resort 6 Figure Set

Last year, Walt Disney World got an 8 figure set (6 regulars, 2 variants) celebrating the 40th anniversary. WDW then had two full Park sets dedicated to it. This summer however, there is a windfall of Disneyland figures. It started with a bunch of figures celebrating DCA. Now, on June 22nd, a set of 6 Disneyland figures will be available at D-Street California. Like the earlier WDW set, they represent the parks, establishing date and resort logo. These figures appeared in the Vault section of Disney’s Vinylmation website. So there were no details available. But it seems as if two of the figures might be Cast Member Trader Variants… similar to the way WDW had two variants that could only be found through trading with CMs.

Disneyland

A red and yellow design that has Sleeping Beauty’s Castle in the head, “Disneyland” in the body and “1955” on the feet. It reads “The Happiest Place on Earth” on the back.

Disney’s California Adventure

A mostly yellow and blue figure with the retro style Mickey head found on the Ferris Wheel on the head.

Disneyland ’55

Very similar to the WDW version, it has the established date on the head, the same Mickey design on the body and a banner with “Disneyland” on the back.

Disneyland ’55 Silver Variant

Same as above, but silver.

Disneyland Classic D

The Classic D Disneyland logo on the head of a mostly yellow and blue figure. There are stars painted all around with Tinker Bell in the left ear.

Disneyland – June 29th; Schedule of Events

June 29th is a busy day for collectors at Disneyland. Up until now, we have only gotten bits and pieces of what is going on, now we seem to have the complete picture.

The day starts off with a treat for pin collectors. Gear Up for Adventure is part of a summer long series of pin releases at DLR. For a complete look at the catalog, please visit OnceUponAPin.com or listen to episode 2 of the Once Upon a Pin podcast (to be released on Tuesday, June 12).

Artists Monty Maldovan and Quynh Kimball will be at Pin Traders, Downtown Disney District from 9a-11a to sign those pins. Gear Up For Adventure Signing Opportunity – Guests who have obtained a Gear Up For Adventure Online Wristband will have the opportunity to meet the artists and have pins from the Road Trip to California collection signed.  For details, visit www.DisneyPins.com.

Then Vinylmation takes center stage with the release of Duffy the Disney Bear when D-Street opens at 10:30am. Also released this day is the (as of this post) unknown Color Block Series. The releases will be found on both coasts, however only Disneyland will get the following signings.

Tim Alcoser 4/13/12 DLR Photo Report

Cold, Rainy day at the resort today (April, Friday the 13th, 2012), which always makes for the best days in terms of crowds. We start in Downtown Disney. It’s pretty obvious what is being covered up at the lego store. Maybe it will be a Murphy V. Mickey if we are lucky. New Lightening McQueen/Tow Mater RC Cars for sale in Downtown Disney. A sunglass icon store is in the works just steps away from World of Disney. The aircraft crashing out of Taste Pilot’s Grill is now missing. Rumour has it, it was removed to improve the upcoming experience of Buena Vista Street and Cathay Circle. Additonal improvements to the trolley wire. Alright, work is over, on to the fun stuff. Another California Screamin’ (literally) picture before I surf over to a rainy Disneyland. Matterhorn update pics, work being done on Fantasmic, “THE KING” playing rock n’ roll at Tomorrowland Terrace and some pictures of the quaint and quiet Toon Town. When was the last time you were at Toon Town?

Enjoy!

Just a guess (hope). Mickey V. Murphy!

Matterhorn Bobsled Donated to Roller Coaster Museum

From Kevin Rafferty of the Disney Parks Blog:

This past summer, the world’s first tubular steel roller coaster – the Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland park – received an extensive refurbishment that included a fantastic new paint job and all-new bobsleds. Now considered a piece of roller coaster history, a former bobsled from the iconic attraction recently was donated by the Disneyland Resort to the National Roller Coaster Museum and Archives, along with signage from California Screamin’.

Disneyland Resort President George A. Kalogridis said, “We’re delighted to provide these pieces of Disneyland Resort history to the National Roller Coaster Museum, an organization that celebrates our industry. The Matterhorn bobsled and California Screamin’ signage represent two of our most beloved attractions, from the first tubular steel-tracked roller coaster in the world to one of the longest and most thrilling.”

Wreck-It Ralph Coming Oct 26th

From Shawn Slater of Disney Parks Blog:

Meet Ralph, the “bad guy” who really wants to be a “good guy” in Disney’s newest animated adventure comedy “Wreck-It Ralph.” In the movie, Ralph goes game jumping across the arcade to prove he’s got what it takes to be a hero.

Now, Ralph’s set to do some park hopping, too! Ralph will be taking the train from Game Central Station to the Tomorrowland Starcade at Disneyland park, where you’ll be able to meet him starting this Friday, October 26.

Beginning October 28, Ralph will also be stopping in at The Magic of Disney Animation attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where part of the candy-coated cart racing game “Sugar Rush” is being recreated right now. So race on over to Disney Parks this fall to say “Hi!” to Ralph and his pal, Vanellope, and be sure to catch “Wreck-It Ralph” in theaters in 3D November 2.
