REVIEW: Delectable Desserts Found Only at Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom

‘Tis the Season to be jolly, to celebrate, and to eat lots of delicious snacks! We made our way out to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party at the Magic Kingdom and tried a few different offerings, so here are our thoughts to help you on your sweet journey:

Eggnog Custard Dessert – $4.99

 width=

Eggnog Custard topped with a Spiced-Chocolate Cake, Meringue, and a Scrooge McDuck Chocolate Gold Coin

You’ve got to be a big fan of eggnog to enjoy this dessert and luckily, I am! I really enjoyed this because it featured a delicious eggnog custard. Honestly the chocolate cake is a bit much in my opinion but still was completely delicious. The Scrooge McDuck gold coin is an awesome touch and this is yours for just $4.99 at Storybook Treats in Fantasyland. Again, this won’t be for everyone…

Enchanted Christmas Belle Dessert – $5.99

 width=

White Chocolate Peppermint Mousse with Yellow Glaze and topped with a White Chocolate Enchanted Christmas Belle

Honestly, this was the least favorite in the group mainly for the yellow glaze which ruined the peppermint mouse inside. Even if you’re a peppermint fan, you could skip this one. But if you choose to try it, you can find it for $5.99 at Gaston’s Tavern.

Chocolate Yule Log – $4.99

 width=

Chocolate Mousse, Chocolate Flourless Cake topped with Chocolate Ganache, and Powdered Sugar featuring Chip & Dale and Donald Duck

 width=

This was a delicious yule log dessert that everyone in the group loved, but just couldn’t finish because of how rich it was. This is definitely highly recommended, but be aware of how rich and chocolatey it is. It’s also quite sizable. This is available at Pecos Bill’s for $4.99.

Red Velvet Mickey Waffles – $6.49

 width=

Red velvet Mickey waffles, vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, caramel sauce, and holiday sprinkles.

If you buy one dessert at the Magic Kingdom Christmas Party, let this be it. The red velvet Mickey waffles are perfect in flavor and paired nicely with vanilla ice cream, complemented nicely by the drizzle of caramel sauce. Please do yourself a favor and put this on your party agenda now. It is available only at Sleepy Hollow Refreshments in Liberty Square.

Sandy Claws Dessert – $4.99

 width=

Orange vanilla cake, cranberry cherry mousse, white crispy pearls, cream cheese buttercream, holiday sprinkles, and a Sandy Claws white chocolate

Also available at Sleepy Hollow, the only thing that’s a nightmare about this is the taste. This is way to sweet, the consistency is gross, and the push-pop design does not make it easy to eat. The cake it itself was good, but there is way too much of what is basically an icing mix in-between. If you want to eat the most overly sweet, least enjoyable icing by itself, this is the dessert for you I guess.

PHOTOS: First Look at Merchandise for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party 2017

As Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party returns to Magic Kingdom Park on select nights from November 9th through December 22nd, so does exclusive merchandise that captures the joyful atmosphere felt during this holiday event.

 width=

Drawing inspiration from the whimsical spirit of the party, this year’s collection features festive elements guests may see during the event. Apparel and products range from T-shirts for adults and kids to a holiday ornament.

“We enjoy creating items that remind guests of their holiday event experiences because we know they love mementos that celebrate this special time of year,” says Cathy Dawson, merchandise product developer for special events at Disney Parks. Designed in a style reminiscent of holiday cards and graphics from the 1960s, the event artwork mixes images of wrapped gifts and Disney characters to evoke warm, nostalgic feelings of holidays past. “Shades of reds and greens serve as a nice canvas for fun images of Mickey and Minnie Mouse decked out in their holiday best,” says Dawson.

There are subtle nods to holidays of yore. A great example is the hooded sweatshirt with a dancing reindeer, a playful character seen in “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade” that guests’ have adored for years.

New this year, Goofy and Clarabelle Cow take center stage on holiday sweater-style shirts and a decorative mug inspired by “Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration,” a live show in which Mickey and his pals hold an unforgettable holiday gathering celebrating friendship and music.

Disney pin collectors can decorate their pin lanyards for the holidays with limited edition pins and pin sets; while exclusive apparel and a limited release pin set give Annual Passholders more ways to celebrate the season during the party.

Rounding out the event exclusive assortment, guests will find a MagicBand presented in a scented decorative box.

Magic Kingdom to Close at 6PM to Accommodate 2017 Christmas Party Events

The Magic Kingdom will close one-hour before the beginning of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party on event nights in 2017, a change from years past.

 width=

Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse and Duffy wave to Magic Kingdom guests as snow falls on Main Street, U.S.A., during ” Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade” at Walt Disney World Resort. The festive processional is one of the happy highlights of Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, a night of holiday splendor with lively stage shows, a unique holiday parade, Holiday Wishes: Celebrate the Spirit of the Season nighttime fireworks, and snow flurries on Main Street, U.S.A. The special-ticket event takes place on select nights in November and December at Magic Kingdom in Lake Buena Vista, Fla. (Ryan Wendler, photographer)

In previous years, the park would close at 7pm just as the party was beginning. To better accommodate guests arriving for the parties and to help clear out day-guests earlier, the Magic Kingdom will close to non-party guests at 6pm on each event night this year. Basically, attraction queues and the park entrance will no longer admit non-party guests starting at 6PM.

It is unclear at this time exactly how this will affect the usual park procedures in preparing for the party.

VIDEO: Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration Debuts at Magic Kingdom Christmas Party

Last night, the final of the trifecta of new stage shows for Cinderella Castle at the Magic Kingdom finally debuted, Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration. Following in the footsteps of the popular Hocus Pocus show that performs during the annual Halloween Party, this new show combines lighting, projection mapping effects, and more to present a more modern performance in comparison to the over 20 year old Celebrate the Season that preceded it. See for yourself:

While the number about texting and such seems a little forced, the rest of the show is a pretty solid replacement for the classic it replaced. What do you think?
